NL Only Keepers

I think people are looking at Carp's shiny ERA and W-L record too much. He only gave up 7 HRs all season, and while he had a low FB% that number will go up. Even in his Cy Young season he gave up 18 HRs (albeit in a lot more innings). He also had a very low BABIP of .272 compared to a career number of .302, and because he doesn't have a great K rate and so relies upon the defense behind him more than others, an increase in his BABIP...

Keeper Question: Uggla or Cano
Published (2009-12-19 13:36:00)
QUOTE (Kazmagic @ Dec 16 2009, 10:28 PM) Who would you rather have, Uggla or Cano, in a keeper league? I'm worried about Uggla moving to 3b. Leave a link... Cano. He is younger and put together a better season last year. He is in a better lineup, better hitters park, and has more positional stability as you've mentioned.

QUOTE (Huskies34 @ Dec 19 2009, 03:33 PM) I would go Kinsler and 9 and the one of the 1b left at 12. I've always been one to go with hitting over pitching espcially in your case where you already have a solid keeper in Greinke who I think will only build on last season. He may not be lince, but he gives you flexibility to not have to draft a pitcher to later. I understand what you're saying about SP...However, it IS...

Porcello, Buchholz......then Joba. We'll see if Clay continues to improve, but if I had to take a guy for 2010, it's Porcello.

Help with keepers in AL only
Published (2009-12-25 05:24:00)
QUOTE (Rush2112 @ Dec 25 2009, 12:18 AM) No way would i spend $30 on any closer. There are saves to go around on the WW in your league. But i would keep Bailey for a Buck. you can't beat that price at all. While I'm not sure where I am on the Mo for $30 argument, implying that saves are easy to come by in a 9P, 12-team AL-only keeper is probably misleading. In any AL-only league, most would-be...

QUOTE (RotoRaysfan @ Dec 19 2009, 01:12 PM) A list of MILB players who are available (or if it's too long, a list of taken players) would go a long way to seeing who the best players are. If Strasburg & Heyward and Smoak are available, I take it means anyone not called up to the MLB is available? The guys already unavailable, and the scoring format of your league makes a HUGE difference on who should go #3 in...

QUOTE (scoh123 @ Dec 24 2009, 02:29 AM) Would you keep Mariano Rivera at $30 if you were me. I just had Halladay traded to the NL at $26 and I was going to keep him but not Mo. I have Bailey at a $1 which is great as long as he's the closer. Paplebon, Soriano, Wood and Gonzales for Balt. is about all that will be available in the auction draft. Tex $31 Youk $26 Beckham...

QUOTE Holland $8 He should go for less than that at the draft this year. I wouln't keep him at that price. QUOTE I then can pick 3 from: Callaspo $5, Salty $8, Avila $6, Reimold $12, Carmona $6, Richmond $5, Daniel Hudson $7, Matusz $11. None of those guys are worth keeping at this time. QUOTE So far, I have been offered Verlander ($24) for Pedroia and Richmond (...

Of the ones you have in bold. I'd keep them all except maybe I'd consider taking Reimold over Votto. $11 compared to $21. You will already have a 1B in Morales as well at $14. You would have an extra $10 and better spread depth throughout your team. Votto is no doubt a better hitter but he is essentially twice the price and doesn't help your roster needs as much....

Why didn't you list everyone from your sig? I See you have Greinke and Felix in there...both are sure fire keepers!

Well, its a standard 5X5 Auction league where we can keep 4 players. We have a $260 cap and we can keep players an additional 2 years after the year we drafted them. There salary goes up $2 the first year and $4 on top of that the next year...ehere are my options with 2010 prices and 2011 prices if applicable and only if I want to hold them at the end of next year: Zack Greinke $7 (cant ...

I'd stay away from Tim Beckham........just way too raw and I think he has a lot of work to do to be even considered a top prospect. I'd be very happy to end up with Justin Smoak (although Montero would be tempting) and Carlos Santana with your picks and I think both should realistically be there.

Ok so this is a hard 1. But my thinking right from the get go is that u dont keep Tulo. Take it for what its worth. I would never ever ever deal Hanley and or Utley and rely on the 2 u mentioned for the next 8 years. It would never even cross my path of thought. U have the best middle infield in the fantasy game today theres nothing u could trade me to get me to split that pair up. And ...

Just my opinion, trade JP Howell, I never like to hang onto closers unless they are sure fire studs, and in a money based keeper league, even that might not be worth it. If you are serious about contending, you should be able to find a closer on the WW somewhere next season, as I doubt many people are holding onto top set up men in a 4 X 4. So if an injury or ineffectiveness arises, you ...
