If your original roomba had a fixed front wheel and your new roomba has a swivel front wheel you may have issues with the old home base. Irobot slightly changed the home base design to accommodate swivel wheel roombas.

The issue on the 500 models is that the button is actually mounted directly to the Printed Circuit Board and there is just a mechanical connection from the large Clean button to the surface mounted contact for the clean function.

Thanks all again for the info! Gordon, that is a gem of a tidbit about the non-swiveling caster. Don't know as much as you all do (obviously, ha!), but a swiveling caster would definitely appear to be a bonus for maneuvering. Great bit of info to keep in mind! You guys are just the gurus of robots!

just a little precision, What is your intention for repairing a faulty motor assembly -- diode-replacement, or motor-assembly replacement? My only intention is to be sure my problem is a motor, when i will sure i will buy the motor ! And perhaps after i try repair the faulty motor

Have you taken out the battery for a little bit to reset it? You can try to run the diagnostics on your Roomba. You can find the instructions in the READ FIRST link in my signature.

**WOW** I can tell you for a *FACT** that the product comparison page has been changed less than 14 hours ago. I was looking at this LAST NIGHT while on the phone with Hammacher Schlemmer about the 562 and the "Lighthouse Technology" box was checked for the 562. What the heck is going on? Why is the customer in the dark about this?

The Roomba with Lighthouses does help break up a home so it can clean each "Zone" efficiently. But, with the stock battery that comes with the Roomba's won't cover your whole house. Heck, I'm not sure if a Li-Io battery would cover your whole house on one charge. iRobot has introduced some *New* 5xx models that only ...

You didn't mention if you were using a digital camera or not. Also you can look at the IR transmitter of the wheel tach during the diagnostic step if you have is partially disassembled.
I had a similar failure on one of my 5900s and the easiest for me to resolve the tach problem was to just replace the drive motor assembly with a donor wheel from my donor Scooba.

You might consider not getting the OSMO and instead purchase a LI-ion battery for your Scooba. If you do that then you won't have to remove the battery after a charge since the LI-ion has its own controllers for charging discharging.

The Irobot website lists the robot features. A couple of the 500 series come with two bins, one with a vacuum and one without. The rest of the 500 sereis and 400 series have vacuums except the dirtdog comes standard without a vacuum.

Most of us ( Old Timer) Scooba owners charge the battery and then remove it from the robot until the next cleaning mission. I don't understand the need to discharge your batteries. Just store them after you have topped them off and use then on the next mission. I have 5 of the 5900 Scoobas that I rotate the batteries in.

Hi there, you can go as low as $100 if you want a robotic vacuum. But you will not be happy with those. If there is animals you need good suction and a robot, which does not "cough" with all that hair. We would not recommend the 53X models, since we and a lot of Customers did not have good experiences with those. If you don't want to spend a lot of money but want to have something which lasts...

A simple thing to check is 'bumper-parts dragging on chassis parts. IOW, when holding the robot in mission orientation and you slowly push in on the offending end of the bumper-shell, will the return spring force the shell forward when released? If not, look for drag points within the 'bot. Sometimes a little tweak while torquing screws as the bumper-shell is bolted back in place will put things ...

iRobot usually does not want your old Roomba back for warranty replacement. What is the problem with your 530? Is iRobot paying the shipping? Are they sending you a complete Roomba with wheels, CHM and dust bin etc? If you are not clear what iRobot is sending you, you should call them again and ask.

1) Have you verified the caster wheel spins freely on its axle? 2) Have you allowed this fault to go on long enough for Roomba to issue an error notice? 3) Is 510 still under warranty? 4) If (3) is NO, you can run a 5XX's built-in-tests.

Richard, your Roomba is a prime candidate for running the Built In Tests to help you determine what is at fault.

Hi All, I'm a new roomba owner and I've run into a bit of a problem. I purchased a refurbished Roomba 530 a couple of days ago, I took it out of the box and put it on my kitchen floor (light colored hard wood) and it worked perfectly. I picked it up and brought it into my bedroom (dark colored hard wood), hit "Clean", it spun in circles for about 30 seconds and then the "Troubleshooting Light"...
