"...black market inspection sticker..." Lol! flyfishn, I live in NY (not city). As long as the car has a functional exhaust catalyst system along with other properly operating mandated emission devices; passes emission testing...then it's legal. I've seen the modified exhaust system after installation and it looked mean and muscular. I wish I had heard and seen the car run. I'm going by what the mechanic experienced...

No doubt sorting through that rats nest would be trying. Try looking around here for the right schematics: http://jaguar.bttlxe.com/xtype/Electrical/ If you can't find them there, maybe Bruce can help you out. Thanks for the update and I hope you have a great Holiday Season!

End of the road: X-Type...
Published (2009-12-21 13:40:00)
I agree with Bruce, the dealer network from my experience here was pathetic, never once did they invite me to a new model release, i registered on their UK homesite, hardly a response, By comparison my son owned until recently a Lexus, what service backup!! free invitations to expensive car shows in Monaco new model releases etc etc The waiting room and the workshop here at my local dealer was like entering something from the fifities; yet...

The switch is located under the instrument panel, driver's side, near the top of the brake peddle, inside the car.

The total toe in the front is set to -0.04 right now. I don't know how much closer to 0 it needs to get. Before it was -0.03 according to the report and it still wore terribly.

HID conversion kit...

A HID kit offers 300% more light but 35% less power consumption as compared to the age old halogen bulbs. The bluish white light ensures extra edge where safety is a primary concern.

Where are you located? If I did that to my car here in Massachusetts, I'd have to buy a black market inspection sticker for the life of the Jag. On the other hand, if I wanted to marry my dog, it wouldn't be a problem (not that there's anything wrong with that). Can't wait for the pix of you smoking all 4 tires on dry pavement!!! Happy Christmas!! Dave

The author of that writeup called the car a failure. I beg to differ. Plenty were made and most are still on the road. It's a nice driving car, it looks great, with a bit of a spirit. Just what about that was a failure? 2003 X-Type 2.5L 5 speed.

I did a HID conversion on my X earlier this year with the 8000k ones. I found them to be more blue than bright and therefore not much better than the halogens. I phoned up the suppliers who very kindly swapped them out for some 4300k ones. these are much much better, with a brilliant white light rather than blue and much better to see with. So my findings are the higher the K the more blue ...
