Advice-biggest/widest front...

The factory supplied 19" wheels came with 245/40 19 fronts and 255/40 19 rear. You could certainly use the 245s on all four corners. It is critical to get a wheel with the correct offset. I believe all wheels fitted to the 1997-2006 XK8s and XKRs were 20mm (or MID) except for the 20x10 rears which are 25mm. Also note the maximum width of any diameter front wheel was 9"

My tires are 255/40/19=all 4,measuring wheels with tape measure they are 9.5" wide.Maybe would work if the front tires were 255/35 or less/19".

From what I've learned reading tire/wheel posts is that you're better off going 19 x 9s in the back and 18 x 8s in the front. I've seen people go 20s in the back since you have a big wheel well. When you do that you should add fender flares to keep road grit from being sprayed backwards over your fenders. From what I have read, 20s make for a really hard ride.

Wahooooo! Thanks all for your support and great suggestions. Looks like your first instincts were correct. I checked everything I could, including a visual on both the Cam position sensor and the crank position sensor and they looked fine. This morning I decided that I had to give it my last, best shot at building compression and get it going before making the dredded call to the dealer. I felt it important to make sure I had 360 degrees of...

The weakness of the hoses is a result of the hose that was used. Your replacement hose is probably much better regarding its temperature/pressure characteristic. The larger hoses are usually 5/16 inch OD and have the wire mesh reinforcement layer. This is much stronger that the OEM hose. You still have the cylinder seals to be concerned about. These are the seals that keep the oil from escaping around the shaft. The leaks start out as a slow...

havn't found anything that will work in the dash as a direct replacement . have seen one thing on placing the unit in the glove box with the nav screen behind the passenger visor and other components under the rear seat. have personally had all the speakers replaced on my 99 xk vert. along with 2 amps and it sounds great.

If you are seeing the Nav screen come up then you must already have a disc, otherwise you would have a black screen. For the more recent discs, you get an analog clock when you are not using the nav; I understand that you would get the leper with older discs. I do not believe there is any way to "set" the clock since the time is picked up via the GPS system. The only adjustment is for ...

I had a similar situation where my coil failed and it blew the fuse. Now I know you are going to ask where the fuse is and I am unable to answer that. However the ignition relays are under the hood at the firewall. I would check the fuses and relays first.

Marc B is right that a little surface rust after getting them wet is no big deal. Different steels have different resistance to rust. Of course, wearing the rust off by using the brakes does mean a tiny bit of your rotor iron is now forever gone onto the street (or your rims). But, why buy such rotors? In my opinion, the whole premise that cryogenic treatment of steel alters it in any way...

I think the oil pan is wide enough that it would take a good eye to tell the difference between 7.5 and 8 quarts on the dipstick. How long you wait for the last bit of oil to drain during a change might also make a difference. If you are doing it at home, then getting the car level or tilted to the front would possibly make a 0.5 to 1 qt difference. If you are checking the dipstick, I ...
