As I recall, with a full roll cage, most groups allow you to track events (the Porsche clubs will let you drive a BMW convertible at their events sans roll cage - they have better insurance, apparently). I am sure he had fun with it, but adding up all the receipts listed on the eBay listing, even assuming he bought the car off-lease for like $30,000, he's got 60 grand into than thing easily - if not more. That same money, spent on a...

...as a matter of fact the driveshaft turns clockwise so when the torque is applied the mount is subject to compression (if any), not traction. The issue is the shift of the unibody compared to the suspension frame. The front rubber mount are soft rubber causing to give when you put a later load on the suspension frame. The problem is exacerbated when you take right hand turn as the unibody shift towards the left causing the diff to pull on...

"The Z3 started out in life as a 4cyl design" The first year of 4 cyl Z3 was 1996. The 2.8L 6 cyl came out in 1997. Why BMW decided to launch the Z3 with a 4 cylinder will always be a mystery. But, being able to fit 6 cyl engines had to be part of the original design.

I had mine beefed up a bit when the issue first came up to prevent problems. The mount is doubled up and the seems were welded. I also tried Randy's first fix of spacers that reduced subframe movement as they were much easier than changing bushings. I'm due for a spring inspection soon and when she is up on the lift we will see if the preventitive fixes worked.

Don't take it to the dry cleaners- they'll make a big mess of it. The method I would use involves 2-3 steps. Step 1 is to pull out as much of the soaked in fluid as possible. Empty out the trunk and spread kitty litter over the carpeting- this sounds weird but kitty litter has been used by mechanics for years to soak up spilled fluid from just about anything. Let it sit for 2-3 days and then vacuum it up. Step 2 is to obtain a can...

The car got real jittery over rough surfaces, so I remounted the tire and tray. I think my bumper weights are still in the bushes at the old house. The car report shows it habitually flunks emissions testing, which is not surprising, given the mods. A concern for NY, but not GA.

Cleaning will involve liquid degreaser and water, probably lots of water which will probably deform the liner.
A brand new liner is about $100/$130 depending if you buy it from your dealer or a internet part distributor.
Ebay "should" be less expensive if you have a bit of patience and are OK with getting second hand.
Local scrap yards who specialize in BMWs are also a good source.

Sounds like a fatigue problem. I've read about this here. Hasn't happened to me....yet. But I only have 24,000 miles on mine. So far.

Is the trunk working? I don't have the fob, but a 98 Z3, and a bad wire in the trunk lid caused a similar problem when using a key.

There is no M. They are only comparing the 2.
With what this version of the Z4 has to offer, the only thing it won't have is an M// logo.

If you haven't already done it, you might want to swap out the water pump while you are in there... especially if you are taking it down that far.
My thermostat went out at 54k and I swapped out the water pump with the Stewart pump while I was in there.

as I have wondered if a change of dates would work for others.
I can tell you this, hotel rates are lower and venue availability is much better on non-holiday weekends.
The problem that we may have is the mindset of the attendees. So many people are set on Labor Day weekend that we may have trouble convincing folks to change dates... even by a week or two. We already see a herd of ...

Maybe you can use a "regular" bolt and a long extension wrench to reach it... it might be kind of a pain to get at but it should work.

I looked at your Craigslist ad out of curiosity (not interested in buying) and wanted to point out something... you have a link to a photobucket slideshow, and from that slideshow you can look at other pictures as well on that account. This includes the door damage pic where someone hit your 1.9 the other week.
