is to have to key in Position 1. That is the only location that will allow the paper clip to slide in 30mm to push the rear tab down. When you get the lock free to turn and if you are still having problems finding the correct position put the switch back in. The switch will have the exact stop for Position 1.

As far as I know the receivers for the satellite radio are 2 units mounted on the back side of the trunk (boot) lid. The roof fin is for telephone and also GPS for navigation. I think it is being installed on most cars even if they do not have those options -as a "prep" item for after additions. Cheers Jim Cash

Oh, My final message was if Imran throws in a Zion(s)ville system based on everyone's recommendation that it will solve all of his problems without checking for anything underlying (is the clunk a contributing factor or not? Was it under the hood or in the driveline? - investigation needed) he's going to spend a lot of money and still leave the underlying problem unsolved. IMO, solving an underlying problem is more important than...

Sounds like you have a weak battery (either the battery is faulty or the alternator isn't working) I've seen this when my alternator died, after charging the battery manually, the car would run well until the battery becomes weak then Trans fail safe came on.

I know I posted this a while ago, "Search" didn't find it, why am I not surprised.
You don't need to pull the key lock barrel to get the electrical switch out.
To remove both here is the procedure.
To remove the key lock barrel use the smallest key you have so it doesn't block access to the tiny hole.

the car, and listen for where that clicking is coming from. There's a chance your starter (solenoid) has kicked the bucket, judging from that clicking sound you are mentioning.
Also, do you have the ability to read codes? The car is probably throwing some that would help point at things.

If you do use JB Weld (good stuff) I would sand down the area to give it a ruff surface for the JB to adhear(?) to. Your main problem will be the pressure the cooling system builds up. Running at 108C will build up pressure. You can't loosen the exp tank cap because it will boil over. I wouldn't fill the exp tank to the correct level, just fill enough so the low level light is out, have the ...

and having to top up between changes. If you had both a "Low Oil" and a " Low Pressure", you should take the conservative approach and trust your indicators.
You can try an oil & filter change now, thereby filling the crankcase with the proper amount (check your manual), and assuring that the crankcase is full. Then, see if the low level or pressure indicators still light up. Who knows, ...

BMW540san,
Why do I get the feeling you and me (and all the others here) are always on the wrong side of this parts versus working-on-car equation?
We should be owning a great site like RMEuro and then kicking back and letting the others sweat out all the DIY details.
Or have you been fooling me all along and secretly you really are the owner of RMEuropean?? ;-)

cuts well, keeps an edge, but the taps are brittle, and can fracture if you put too much torque, or side motion on them.
Buy the most expensive set you can afford. Be sure to check out Craftsman, too.
Use cutting oil, and back off the tap or die to purge the thread cuttings to prevent jamming. If you're tapping a deep hole, remove the tap after a couple of turns, and blow out the ...

Do you already have the 18" winter tires?
If not it would be better to get smaller wheels/tires that have a higher aspect ratio. 16" works well.
Narrower tires dig deeper and also the higher aspect gives more wheel protection in bad weather.
Also they are usually cheaper.

Keith,
I have the cassette tape head unit in my '96 e39 (528i) and I just use the ipod with the cassette insert. It's good enough for my ears, as I don't have high-fidelity standards when playing tunes (AC/DC ' Highway to Hell' sounds the same on the BMW oem factory speakers with the volume at max as it does to me on friend's highend systems).
Anyhow, I wanted ask, how would we get ...

car in drive (foot brake on) and giving it some gas. Have someone watch the engine to see if it lifts up much on one side. Then put it in reverse and do the same thing. It shouldn't move that much, I'm guessing maybe less than 1/2 to 3/4" tops if the motor mounts are good.
