So we all know it is cold and are preparing accordingly with layers and wind/water shields...etc
Didn't think about the bike much though apart from the ritualistic clean and oil.
With these climatic conditions, off road static puddles have the tendancy to be covered in a thin layer of ice, which make
a great noise when they are unavoidable. The problem kicks in with the muddy water...

Keep on doing that, and you'll find your fitness levels will shoot
through the roof. Nearer the event i'd start to increase your riding time to about 3hrs depending on what enduro you want to do. (Ive never read a training guide and ended up finishing 10th in my category in Ruthin Merida Marathon). Giant XTC SE 2006

i did the beast of brecon that was quite enduring.
i missed the start by 12 minutes got a bit lost before finding my way, i had the extra motivation of calving through the pack, not sure where i finished (it took 3hrs 38 for me to do the 62km), but i didnt have much power left to attack over the last 15 minutes due to expending
too much energy on a certain 'the gap' climb
ile be back to do ...
