question about home theater audio
Published (2009-12-12 19:50:00)
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 I just ordered this adapter from Monoprice. It's only 3 bucks, so I guess I'll just try it out when it gets here and see if it sounds better than the straight 3.5mm going from the TV to the speaker system. I suspect it'll sound the same, since the 2 RCA connectors end in a 3.5mm connector, and usually things are only as strong as their weakest link. I love all the...

NinX Home Theater PC

Even on the low end system, there was one thing that bothered me. This seems dubious to me. Quote: ASUS TV Tuner PHC3-150 w/ MCE Remote (optional) You pay close to $700 and the capture card or even just the remote is extra?? Let's buy a car without the wheels. There are better cards out there anyway. The system has one free pci slot and allegedly no extra pci-e slots. I'll pass.....

I thought that was pretty interesting. I wonder how the computer is able to copy the text and graphs from papers though. It seems like the copy would not be very crisp.

Well not everyone wants/needs a TV Tuner so it is optional. What other TV Tuner Card would you recommend?

Alright I just had a lengthy chat with my tier one Charter support tech and I refuse to buy what she's selling...if you know what I mean. I put a TV tuner card in my pc hoping that I could watch some TV and use it as a DVR. I pay extra for digital channels (which I thought was illegal) but she said I can't watch them on my pc unless I pay more fees to have them install a cableCARD in my tuner....

One advantage of having a customized system. is that usually you can upgrade easier. Most of the brand name systems lock you into using only their replacement parts and are usually not as upgradeable. Some smaller (caveat emptor) computer stores are more adept at making a customized system so that you do not have to build it yourself. They usually already have some pre-configured systems that ...

There is a new brand of HTPC on the market called NinX Media PCs. They offer three different models that vary on performance, video quality, storage capacity, sound quality, and other factors. Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Drive and TV Tuner are optional add-ons. They don't offer a bargain basement model and they don't offer a high-end production system. They are targeting the mid-market with a high-...

We have a Dynex 32" LCD TV, and the stock sound is terrible, so I connected a Cambridge SoundWorks 2.1 system with 2 satellite speakers and a powered sub woofer. It's about 60 watts, I think. It only has a 3.5mm stereo jack, so I ran a 3.5mm audio cable from the headphone jack on the TV to the Cambridge Soundworks system, and it sounds much better than the TV's speakers. The sound is fuller ...
