Thanks. I ran that scan and it says I could do exactly what I intended. The only thing that's odd is that this is another site that tells me I have only one open slot for memory. My manual that came with the computer shows I have two open slots. Until I take off the cover after my new 1.0 GB (jig or gig?) card comes I guess I won't know which is correct.

Another alternative is OpenDNS at 208.67.222.222 There is some controversy about OpenDNS redirecting some search queries but, at least for a short time, openDNS may have a slight edge in speed in the USA (while Google DNS is faster in most other countries.) Fiber-optics FiOS users (none yet in Las Vegas) will likely be better off with their own ISP's default DNS.

Try Belarc Advisor The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware, missing Microsoft hotfixes, anti-virus status, CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks, and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server. cnet recommends it too. Check out some of Vegas2I5's posts/threads in this subforum in regards to...

Ike, crucial.com has a pc analyzer that looks at your system and suggests what memory you need. They may even have specials on some products. google "cucial +codes', may find free shipping, discounts, etc.

HP computers running winXP have a "restore operating system program" that saves all your updates, programs & any added files loaded on your hard drive You can also try running scan disk & defrag to see if that helps.

I say it's rarely worth upgrading an existing PC to a newer version of Windows. At the very least wait for a Windows 7's service pack to come out then buy a new PC with the new OS. You already paid for your current OS, why trash it now just to get a few bells and whistles. When you pay for an PC the OS comes pre-loaded. When you buy an upgrade you pay Microsoft like $150 bucks again (I don' t...

For several reasons I dumped Cox for both TV and internet . I did decide to sign up with Clear Wireless Broadband Internet because my need-for-speed was not that great (I am not a gamer). However, since I live on the fringes of the valley (just north of Rhodes Ranch and near Summerlin South), I did not get the speed promised. Inside the 215 Beltway , you'll probably get about 4-8Mbps...

http://download.cnet.com/3001-2356_4...082611e8e0f 9b8 Not too long ago I cancelled my Las Vegas Cox broadband internet (and TV) and tried Clear 4G WiMAX wireless internet. Unfortunately, due to my fringe location, my speeds were not close to the 4-8Mbps advertised. I am hoping that will change as more WiMAX cellular towers are deployed in the Las Vegas valley. Since my new broadband ...
