i think it's still valid. u wouldn't want to have the caliper swinging around. moreover, u wouldn't want to put it somewhere (like on top of the rotor) and have it drop, only to be restrained by the brake line.

The used Caymans are selling at somewhat reasonable prices already-- but not sure it would be an enviable position to need to do an engine tear-down or replacement. I am not sure the Boxter [see video] is being driven by ordinary folks at the track. I think these people belong to a higher income group, but then, what do I know ? btw -- thats Tony G. in the video introducing himself !! http://www.porscheusa.com/family ./

Rough day in the Colorado Rockies!! It may not be the nicest 951, but darn fun to drive when the roads are clear during the week.

there will never be another 944 imo. The cayman is simply a very nice mid engined sports coupe. The only thing they have in common is they are mid-level sports cars.

As you turn to start position look to see if the TACH Needle bounces. No TACH bounce means the Speed Sensor is either bad or the connection is bad. Is the rotor on tight? The set screw can back out letting the rotor free to move around not making proper contact inside distributor cap.
Cheers,

Your description doesn't sound like either my early car or my '86 NA.

You should do a leak down test to see if the head gasket HG is leaking.
Harbor Freight has a decent leak down test kit for about $40

I do not see what model of car you have but the HG torque sequence is very important. On my 924S it is a 3 step---15 foot pounds--90 degree--90 degree.
What is also most important is the...

A $3500 N/A 944 and $2500 to get it ready. New ball joints, bushings, roll bar or cage, Corbeau seats, 5 or 6 point harnesses, Hawk blues, ATE blue or gold fluid and 4 new SOLID rotors (Drilled rotors can get you hurt), and 3 inch hose for front brake ducting.

I am looking to get a track car just for fun track days (Not to compete).
What is a Better Track car and why if I have a 6K budget??
944 Turbo or 944 NA and why? (944 Na would be with a 16v engine maybe a 968 engine)

Not really... Some will argue the "celebration" edition of '88 or the 924S "leMans/SE" models are rare. What makes them rare now is either 1) low mileage or 2) unabused. In the US, most 944 series cars lead a rough. hard life. They are at the bottom of the used Porsche prices. Give them another 10 years and they will be more rare, but perhaps not worth a lot more. Much like the 914 before them, ...
