The drilled are prone to cracking around the holes - For a stock carrera I would just get stock rotors. Where I would get aggressive is with the pads if I was tracking the car

I have a 3.0L (930/02 type) motor. The camshaft drive sprocket is attached with a hex bolt and washer (not the nut and washer setup). What type of thread locker does everyone suggest? Loctite "red"? Also, looking for any tips on the initial valve timing. I have the dial indicators. thanks everyone

Well, slightly off idle fixed in no time. So I got a rented of one of these little gas analyzers for 30 bucks: http://www.goodmart.com/products/1015583.htm (got it locally, of course) Then I opened up the CO test port (number 5) in this image below. It's right behind the driver's side rear wheel and there's an opening in the heat shield for the catalytic converter, and I didn't have to jack the car up or anything: I ran...

Find a good PDR guy and pay him $50 to push out the dent.
Too bad you couldn't find the guy who did it and return the favor with a kicked-in qtr panel.

i wouldn't worry at all about the oil leak indicating it needs a rebuild, they are not related. Oil leaks on 911s although not desireable are not at all uncommon. Although opinions may differ I wouldn't let a car with no history stop my deal if it checked out fine on a PPI.

Greg,
Generally speaking, one usually doesn't need bigger brakes for street use: good pads, rotors that are in perfect condition, SS brake lines and a proper fluid do the job in most situations.
Big brakes such as 930 or Brembo GTP's are really needed for track use, especially when using a DOT-R type tire. GTP brakes require 17" wheels or bigger so thats a consideration, as well....

They also offer a pedal that offers a lot of adjustment. I've no experience with that, but I have done the H/T for a few years. It takes time, and is somewhat harder to practice on the street, as you're not in the braking situations that you are on the track, so your brake pedal is probably not as depressed as it will be when you're doing the real thing.

I don't know what kind of pads are on my car right now (they were on the car when I purchased it), but they are killing me. The squeaking when I pull up to a red light is embarrassing and drives me nuts. They also put out a good bit of dust. I had them checked the last time I was in the shop and they said that there was lots of meat left on them so I've decided I just need to get a better set. ...

Take out the passenger seat 8 minute job. You can do it without removing the seat but it is much easier since you need access to the side of the shifter.

Welcome to the board.
I used Threebond 1104/Yama-bond on mine and has been great. 3 years since the rebuild. I used the Dow Corning 111 and works very well, it gets used frequently since. Check this thread out over on Pelican parts http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-e...pproaches.h tml Also get the Porsche Rebuild Book by Wayne Dempsey. Great information!
