Phillip: That is not technically correct. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty act puts the burden on the company denying a warranty claim to show that the aftermarket part is sub-par or that it actually caused the problem complained of. Of course, all dealers and OEM's want you to believe otherwise. Regards, Maurice. [/quote] Good to know...Thanks Maurice. QUOTE (erik_plus8 @ Dec 5, 2009 - 04:27 PM) @ utkinpol: very interesting thoughts, thank you for sharing! You describe very clearly your reasoning process and I have full understanding for your choices. In my case I have at the moment no ambition to treat the car as an overgrown Lego toy (although when you describe it it sounds actually quite tempting... ) I don't consider myself mechanically challenged...

QUOTE (Noor @ Dec 12, 2009 - 10:45 PM) Dear Porsche Lovers, I have has my 997S (05) for about 6 months now. I drive it once a week or and yes I am spirited drivers. So far no issues. However this morning when I started the car, it started off with some strange klanking noises in the engine, un-even engine idle, nasty smell, (I think it was burning the oil) and then the check engine light came on (Flashing) along with...

Car has a little shy of 25K. As per the IMS. I have no experience with the IMS problem except for reading about it. But as I understand it is shaft failure and the engine basically seizes. But in the case Engine is now running fine after the strange sounds, rough idle and burning some oil. So could it be the IMS or may be it is the spark plugs/coil issues etc. Not sure. Thanks. Phillip: I have worked on a few cases that involve automobile warranties, and I still don't know if the dealers know the law and spread this common misconception around or if they truly don't know and are acting...

Well since you are running Rcomp tires your hitting way higher G-s than the factory Oil Sep. can handle, On 997's i believe its on the drivers side of the engine and when you make hard rights, All the oil in the crankcase is moved to the left and im positive that causes an updraft of oil to shoot back up the bellows tube and saturate the oil sep and some oil makes it to the intake manifold via the upper oil sep tube. If only there was a...

How many miles on the vehicle? It could be a spark plug or coil starting to fail. Have it inspected by the dealer.

QUOTE (Luzy V8 @ Nov 17, 2009 - 06:48 PM) I found the reason for the rattle in my case ..... it is the chrono watch which is not firm enough inside the pod. I have not worked on it to fix it, but at least I already know how to remove the chrono watch unit. The pod is only snapped it into the dashboard, so with a pry tool it can be taken off. That should be also a backup solution in how reaching the area behind the...

QUOTE (mkk62 @ Dec 5, 2009 - 01:58 PM) any helpers out there... I did read similar posts from other folks and no one seemed to find actual reason of that behavior. To me excessive smoke on overheated cylinder means most likely it is you get oil in there while some gap between some parts in engine assembly somewhere increases just enough to allow oil to penetrate inside. QUOTE (zipperkarting @ Dec 12, 2009 - 06:04 PM) Hello everyone, I want to install a rear strut brace on my 2002 Porsche 996 C2. Can anyone give me some help please? Thanks. Why? might I ask... Short of going to a full weld-in roll-cage, with pickups at the suspension points, I'm not sure there is any real benefit to the typical "strut brace" here. The 911 monocoque chassis ...

Its easy, youll need a some masking tape, hammer and manual impact driver with a bit that fits the 2 screws that hold the latch bar to the body, loosen them alittle, just enough to slide it inward to the vehicle the exact distance in question depending on your specific needs. place masking tape near 3 edges of the latch bar on the body of the car. i recommend tape on both top and bottom ...
