Need your opinion on PASM and...

QUOTE (CarGuy21 @ Nov 14, 2009 - 08:35 AM) You'll want PASM for the track. The car will corner better and faster with that option than without. The car will be more tossable on the street, too. Yes I'm aware of the stiffer setting of PASM would be great for track work. But like I said I'd only track the car once or twice a year (if any), so I'm not sure if that justifies paying extra for the PASM?...

Sport Mode - Adaptive?
Published (2009-11-09 19:25:00)
I see. So since I drive the car nearly 100 percent of the time in manual (sport mode), then it really hasnt learned much about my driving style. I also notice that the downshift's in D always seem to be smoother than in manual mode. Is that due to the programing in D executing the perfect shifts based on the software mapping? Jon QUOTE (ADias @ Nov 8, 2009 - 06:18 PM) PDK in D mode is adaptive except in Sport...

You want PASM for daily driving. PASM on the .2 generation is just about perfect. And you'll mostly use it in normal mode on the street. The std non-PASM suspension is far more punishing over expansion joints and broken pavement. PASM Normal is not a limo suspension but it does control sharp changes quite well. DFI engine issues?
Published (2009-11-11 18:27:00)
QUOTE (ADias @ Apr 6, 2009 - 07:08 PM) Take a look at this THREAD discussing severe gunk buildup on Cayenne DFI engine's valves. Will 997.2's 9A1 engines develop this? Hmmm... Look closely at the area of the intake runner below the valve stem. See how CLEAN that area is..?? Seems to imply, for me, a valve seat leak in that area.

Radar Detector
Published (2009-11-09 15:16:00)
I have about 4,000 miles of driving with my Escort 9500ix and love it. The false alarm feature is nice and it also has a rear facing sensor. You can also download red light camera locations, known speed trap locations and speed camera locations which is updated every two weeks or so on their website. The Escort has saved me on numerous occasions and the lack of arrows pointing to where the radar is irrelevant to me. The strength and pattern...

I just got this from Escort and there was not a review yet when I went to the site. Haven't checked Radar Roy. It is semi-custom mount with laser shifter optional. You can get the sensor down low where lidar is typically aimed. And out of site. And a remote warning box. http://www.escortradar.com/qi45/?utm_sourc...mp;v=2d051d773c

DFI engine issues?
Published (2009-11-11 15:47:00)
from a scientific standpoint, I think we first have to consider the fact there are well documented case of carbon buildup in non-dfi engines as well. There are pictures of this type of issue that predates the widespread usage of DFI in non diesel engines. So, we have fact #1, and that is that non-DFIs have this issue as well. Another issue: Most of the horror pictures are taken of VW/audi products such as the VW sourced Cayenne or the...

Cayenne 2008 3.6l V6 is the first year of this engine that I know of. I'm not sure of the other models or years.

The normally aspirated and turbo V8 Cayennes also first got DFI in the 2008 model year

I believe it's X-51 headers, throttle body, Airbox, intake manifolds, cams, polished heads and remapped ECU. Not worth the money ($25k to $28k) for 25hp in my opinion. Be better off getting the 997-2 "S" or gen 1 997 GT3 if you want the extra ponies... This post has been edited by phillipj : Today, 06:52 AM

PDK in D mode is adaptive except in Sport Plus, which should shift at redline (and should not be used on the street). Its adaptive algorithm learns over time - it does not just replicate the last time. This post has been edited by ADias : Today, 03:19 PM

If you put the quantity according to the manual it ends up overfilled. Perhaps the oil cannot be 100% drained. I specifically ask them for 7 liters only during an oil and filter change, which is safe, and I top up later accordingly if required.
