If it was not that way before then take it back. Chances are the connection is loose or the sender has gone bad.

Problems with re-fueling
Published (2009-12-12 08:21:00)
QUOTE (Philip54 @ Dec 12, 2009 - 07:41 AM) I have trouble filling completely the fuel tank of my 2000 996 (the last 2-3 gallons) and, when I do manage to fill the tank completely, there is smell of fuel inside the car. Are these problems related? Any suggestions about how to fix them? Thanks please use the search function as this has been covered multiple times.

If all you want to do is hear your engine better, a microphone in the engine compartment fed through your stereo would let you do it without chasis mods. Add a little equalizer, and you can refine the tone to sound just the way you want. Big and throaty--no problem. Add a small mixer and you could vary how much it dominates any music you play. You might end up moving the mic around so it picks up the sound at the best point for what you want...

QUOTE (1schoir @ Jul 7, 2009 - 01:33 PM) I bought my unit from Amazon.com and it was an excellent price (around $100). It's the exact same kit sold by Porsche, but if you buy it from Porsche you have the privilege of paying an additional $400. If you buy it from Porsche, you get the nice Porsche sticker on it. My car is a '97 Boxster and I refilled it with 6 gallons of 50/50 mix- coolant...

Once taking the seat completely out of the car, and another by just unbolting the four bolts that hold the seat rails down and then leaning the seat bottom...

Reliability of 996 Engines
Published (2009-12-09 16:14:00)
Hello all, This is my first post in the forum. I recently purchased a 2000 996 with 111K on it. Since I am a dealer, I was able to pull all service records, etc, from Porsche and found (before purchasing) that no major problems occurred with the vehicle since new. Oil changes were done at the very least, every 5000 miles and all scheduled maintenance was completed. After purchasing the vehicle, I drove it TWO MILES before I heard a pop...

It's better and quicker to drain the coolant system by removing the drain plug on the rear of the engine, while the car is lift up on the front. Refilling can be done with the vacuum machine.

wwest, hi there and thanks for your thoughts! first of all, im already running 103 octane. im sure the timing and air/gas ratio is off, i desperately need to get her on the dyno then i think this problem will be corrected. btw when you refer to compression, are you suggesting a compression test? i asked for this test at a dealer prior to install of SC and they said it was not a good idea ...

Problem: You need a 17mm open end crowfoot. But normal crowfeet aren't long enough and the head of the torque wrench doesn't clear the strut. Solution: I put a 17mm combination wrench on the hex of the stabilizer link, and fitted a 17mm driver (drain plug tool) into the box end of the combination wrench. Keep the wrench at a 90 degree angle to the torque wrench and no correction factor ...

mediocrety in engine design when a variety of makes ( including American
cars I may add) are able to produce high powered , sophisticated engines
that easily survive 200K miles without leaks or breakdowns. I also do not

3M makes a adhesive remover wheel that goes on a rotary tool or drill. I have one and it works quite well. saves a lot on the elbow grease.
