No load fund compensation

Originally posted by B24 This opinion would not be popular with the writers at Money or Fortune or mostly any other financial columnist (that has never done anything in the investment world), but I feel sometimes too much emphasis is placed on expense ratios. LSUAlum, thank you for your response. I asked the question, albeit maybe not with the best choice of words, to see how other professionals respond when handed the same question from prospects and DYIers. For the record, I am a Rep and fully aware of how 12b-1 fees are composed, how active and passive funds are different, and how both types can be beneficial for clients. After reading this forum for some time, I finally asked a simple question...

Originally posted by AGEMAN Originally posted by ChrisVarick Chief, I agree, there are some no-load funds that are lower in operating expenses than A share funds. What do you say to clients that want to use no-load funds? I would tell them I can do no-load funds and institutional shares in a fee based account. If they don't think my advice is worth 1-1.25% then they should go direct with Vanguard or Fidelity. ditto

Originally posted by anonymous Snags, I'm having trouble understanding how his tax bracket won't change. What is his current income? Current income is around $70k filing as a single person. At worst, he'll be bumped up from 25% to 28% if too much is converted. But, he will be in the same tax bracket in retirement as he needs pretty close to his current income in retirement. ...

Vanguard.
Just kidding (not really, but you said active).
Something that comes in handy for me is the Goldman Short Duration Tax-Free fund. For the right piece of money, I like it a lot.
For those of you doing any NQ money, and using mutual funds, it wouldn't hurt to take a look at the tax-managed equity funds from: Goldman Sachs

Volume on Monday will be low. The reweighting of the S&P caused alot of indexers to rebalance so the largest money managers will be out of the game by monday.
We trade in a very narrow range the remainder of December I think.
Also, it's not that people aren't spending money for Xmas this weekend, they will either buy online or go later in the week. You don't...

Bill, I understand where you are coming from. If they are going increase taxes transactions, put it in a trust fund (hopefully not like social security), only to be used by investers who were defrauded.
Here's my problem. It's punitive. It's the politically easy thing to do right now. Give an inch, take a mile. Look at the UK taxing bonus' at 50%. It doesn't ...

They can only pay market rate to others to do ...
