Primer I.D. 209 size - #3
Published (2009-11-23 16:06:00)
Thanks again. I have always followed, published data, for all my reloading. Currently loading steel with RSI data and from what I have been told in the past is that both the CCI 109/209 and the WW209 are classified as "Medium" primers, vs hot or mild. The pressure on the load Iam currently using is below 10,000. Would I be able to safely interchange the above listed primers? Just looking for opinions here, not planning on...

Primer I.D. 209 size - #3
Published (2009-11-24 23:03:00)
Same difference. The new CCI 209 and 209M look exactly like a Federal 209 and 209A except for the color scheme. Old CCI flash hole is gone with Federal flash hole now.

Ordering a gun thru Walmart
Published (2009-11-22 20:01:00)
The used to keep a binder with a listing of all of the guns that were available through them. My last experience was that you told them which gun you hoped to have and they ordered it. When it arrived at Walmart, you fill out an ATF form 4473, pay for it (provided you pass the background check) and that's it. I noticed that if the guns weren't ones that they stocked, the prices were not great.

Lose the oil and lube it with FP10 or a similar product. Sounds like a fouling issue or weak spring. My guess, fouling!!!!

Gary I shot 6 or 8 of my 1oz, #4 BC's this weekend, and the few ducks I shot were dropped hard. The recoil on the these is more than I expected, but acceptable. Delta G....Thanks for the heads up on RST......looks like I may have to try some of their shells out.

I had a 31/2 and it was the worlds most expensive single shot and a 3 that was more reliable unless it was real cold. And I hunt in the cold.I got rid of both of them.I still have a 20 Ga.

Scope Cap Help
Published (2009-11-24 20:59:00)
You can find old scope caps on gunbroker.com. I see Leupold and Schmidt and Bender caps for sale now. If you hang in there long enough you can either find the caps or a broken scope with caps. http://www.gunbroker.com

What type of hull did they come in?

What you have described is a classic hang fire.
May have been some plastic over the primer when loaded and took awhile.
Or misalignment of the primer anvil.
That is why it's recommended one minute before opening the breach? For ever if its you! and would have done the same but always try and wait at least 15 seconds, face away from breech.

Stay away from the early ones. They had some problems ..... which I have read were mostly caused by too tight of tolerances ...... Tight tolerances in semi auto shotguns are not necessarily a good thing. Combine wide variations in ammo tolerances with cold temps, improper lubrication, insufficient cleaning and dirt and you're going to experience cycling problems. The ones made within the last 5...

If they are over the decoys, I'd get some Federal Red or Blue box #3 shot. You could buy a whole lot more of them!

occasionally a firearm will hit certain primers light. This can be due to the brand of primers and/or the tension in the firing pin spring or the seating depth of the brass to that brand primer. Try another brand of primers and see if that corrects the problem.

If you sprayed gun scrubber OR DEET in the same room with the gun, that c ould happen. All it takes is a few fumes to stick to it. However, Browning should fix that up for you, anyway.

Not real sure what your getting at here
What I would LIKE to be able to develop would be a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 oz load of steel that would run 1775fps and have the felt recoil of a lite trap load. There's just this one little problem to get around, physics

I've had an SP-10 for a long time now and can put a box of shells through it and not even flinch
Like mentioned, weigh and swinging through the lead on the bird, are about the main challenges

If I use my Ruger All Weather O/U I use my other Ruger O/U. If I use my SBE I use another Benelli Auto. If I use my Benelli/Browning/Remington pump I use another one of my pumps. If I use a 10 Ga. I use one of my other 10s. I don't like to mix types or gauges, especially the later it can get you killed.

I saw one with out the dog knott and it was $1200, I'm redoing my great grandad's that was handed down to me, he cut the choke out of it to make a quail gun, when we had quail in our part of Texas Now to find a barrel for a reasonable price is a hard find. Hope that helped out a little!

I was having a few problems with my nova as well. From short cycling, some jams, mostly 3.5's but some 3's. All problems stopped when I started bringing wd40 in the truck and using it right before the hunt and concentrating on really throwing those shells out. It took a few days to get used to but really slamming the forearm back helped me.
Btw, i shoot nothing but xperts
