What is the old CPU and motherboard? If the CPU is compatible, pop that in and see if it turns on properly. Maybe a bios update is needed for it to boot.

Personally, I bought that same laptop, and it can handle 1080p fine. I payed $549.99, and thought it was a good deal. The Walmart deal for $399.99 was better because it was th same specs but with a T4200 Pentium and a 14" screen. The T6500 is better but there won't be a huge performance gain. That said, the $399 walmart deal is long gone, and we probably won't see anything similar for a while (although I'm not sure of...

Bleh. A wrt54gl (or similar device) running dd-wrt in wireless bridge mode would do the trick, if you don't want to hard-wire it into your Ethernet.

I recommend the Logitech G5. I've got a few in "stock" at home from back when they were $35 a piece on sale. I think it's the greatest gaming mouse ever made (it was based on the MX-510 and 518) and nowadays, Logitech made the G500 which is based on the G5.

I think macs are better, but I would not own a mac unless I also owned a PC.
My next notebook will be a MacBook Pro.

I use a free one called Defraggler, because it is by the same guys who do the freeware CCleaner (crap cleaner). It's lightweight.
> What's actually worth paying for?
I wouldn't pay for any defragging software, nor bother with a pirated one.
