We normally don't get this much snow in a whole season! LOL! Normally for us the warmer Atlantic Ocean waters cause the storms to turn to frozen mix, freezing rain or totally rain. The last December storm that we got this much snow from was in 1966. My DD using our snow blower to remove the snow from front path One of our raindeer Christmas decorations under the snow! Back deck steps Panda Bear in the snow!

Sign me up too! However, I am soon heading out of town (without internet connections -- yikes!) until January 4th. So I won't be around for the mad dash of chef picking. But I actually think it will be a good thing to have the choices narrowed down a little. You guys have soooo many good recipes it's always hard to pick!

Yes, NOW organic virgin coconut oil is as high quality as any I have experienced and seems to rate well with others who've used it. The information you are asking about is printed on the label of that product as well. I use oil for saute but use Earth Balance for baking.

My suggestion would be to defrost them, break them up, and use them like ground beef crumbles in chili, or shepherd's pie. Chili might be better, so the flavour is disguised.
Here's a couple recipes for chili:
Crock Pot (Or Not) Vegetarian Chili
Dawn's Favorite Low-Fat Chili
And shepherd's pie:

I recommend homemade cranberry chutney. I make this every year and put in jars to give as gifts. It is always so well-received!

Hi MD!
Admittedly, I'm a vegetarian, so I still use butter. I know that Earth Balance is expensive, because I do buy it. I did a little bit of googling, and found a decent pages with good information:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cookbook:Vegan_Substi tutions
It suggests cocoa butter for baking, among other things - but I found that to be expensive as well.
All of ...

Hey Prose!
I really like brussels sprouts as long as they arent bitter. Unfortunately you cant see or smell that...So, what I do is, that I only buy them after they have had their first frost. That tends to make them non-bitter.
Here is a recipe Ive tried from zaar and liked:
Brussels Sprouts Soup
Also I luv just quartering the sprouts, adding them to a hot pan (with some ...

I've not had the Jason's soup, so I don't know if I'd be anywhere close--I can just relate how I was making a similarly designed soup for a health food store.
