The Artisans have been excellent mixers for me, but I just know they aren't made to put them through what I do. Cakes, brownies, frosting,...

I have never tried Hamilton Beach or Sunbeam, but from what I could find on the internet that the Hamilton Beach was basically meant for making cakes and cookies. I bought a KA because I wanted it for making bread. All KA mixers can handle bread dough even the Classic mixer. I own a ProfessionalHD from Costco and the only thing I would trade it for is a Hobart mixer. Which are meant for restaurant use.

I completely hear you on the knife blocks - we didn't have a place for a metalic strip, so had to go with the block. I wash and dry them right after use, so I'm glad I'm doing that right! I thought Henkels were subpar to Wusthof... ? No? Or is it more a matter of preference? Kat

Hi Laura! Welcome to Gadgets!
I would have loved to put in the double wall ovens but I only had the freestanding option when we replaced ours. I chose the Maytag freestanding dual oven (small oven on top & full size on bottom) & have really been happy with the brand. I don't personally have experience with any of the double wall units though.

Hi Brenda!
I've owned 4 of them, all the Artisan models, but not because they have worn out on me. I've given all the old ones to family or friends & they're still working great, one's at least 11 years old now.
I just kept changing colors or in the last case it was a gift for Xmas from my MIL & BIL because it was in the Breast Cancer pink set.
The only complaints I have had...

I've replaced my cookware with MagnaLite Professional off ebay. I could probably open a restaurant, as I've gone kinda crazy buying it.
It looks to be back in production as Magna-Pro by American Culinary.

I use both Wusthof and Henckels. I don't use a wooden block holder because I don't like the deep, dark groves where anything could be lurking. So I use a magnetic wall strip knife holder.
I don't allow the knives to soak in water. I use them, rinse, wipe dry, and put them away. I don't have a dishwasher but if I did, I wouldn't put the knives in there.
I take them to a free ...

I use mine frequently for cooking a couple of chicken breasts or hamburger patties. Even though I don't have removable griddles, it's pretty easy to clean with a scrub brush.

The Wilson pans are heavy and seem to hold up well. WalMart carries them now.

I would suggest you check out the Ninja Master Prep which has been discussed in this forum. This unit will chop ice into snow, perfect for some drinks.

We just saw this advertised on TV.
all I could think of was the nightmare of greasing it or spraying it and then trying to lift it up KNOWING at some point a brownie would stick.
Plus I can see the batter seeping under the dividers just enough to make it have UNCUT bottom unless you press down .
Go get yourself a fry cutter instead

I have an old cusinard (sic) that has stood the test of time. I also have the real small one which is also a fine machine. I found both at garage sales, where I find most of my kitchen appliances. I really like to go to a newlywed's garage sale. Many of this younger generation don't cook but nuke and dump some great things. I am hunting for a heavy duty mixer now.

Hi, Ro!
I've never heard of it. But I'm interested to hear all about it!
What's the cleanup like for it? That's always a big concern for me.

Wellll ... Actually no kidding ... I save (for a day or two) meat bones and leftover veggies.
Then I start a soup with the usual: chopped fried onion, peeled overripe tomatoes, maybe some chopped carrots, a few potatoes, and I add the leftovers mentioned above ...
Simmer. Add garlic, a little salt, maybe equal dashes of vinegar and sugar (a miracle worker for flavour). Maybe a ...

Hi, Sue! Welcome to Gadgets
I don't use a roaster myself, but last year my cousin did for our Thanksgiving dinner. Our experience wasn't optimal, as the Turkey was taking several hours longer than it should have to cook, so their model may have been faulty, but even if we hadn't had to put the bird in the oven to cook it, we were planning on putting it in to brown it.
I wasn't...
