Ok I took care of that then. Here are two more pics with a little better angle. I didnt have a roundover bit so I took the edge off with a tablesaw then rounded it with a disc sander. Then smoothed it with a palmsander. I also rounded the corner of the port wall. [IMG] [/IMG] Thanks for all complements I am very happy with the outcome. Way better than the sealed box I had.

My 18" Box design for Civic...

When a driver is mounted close to a baffle plate, trunk lid, etc, it loads the woofer by means of the air in front of it compressing. With 2 inches clearance, it is going to load a little, Idon't know how to properly design around it, but 4-6 inches clearance on an 18 is sufficient. On a sealed enclosure you end up making the box larger to undo the effect, as the box 'cushion' would be intensified. Ported, I imagine, youcould...

well i was thinking last night and i figure that i will just get the D2 HDC3's and get another AQ2200D and strapp them i think i will be able to get 14ft^3 easily and i think that will be enough from what i was reading. thanks for the help in deciding but i think i will still tune to 35hz because 38 sounds good and loud to me now with the 12's but i think lower will be better for me.

Here is my box design for my new Audioque hdc 18' in my 1992 civic sedan 5 cubes net after all displacements. Woofer will fire up into trunk lid with about 2 inches of clearance, port 75 square inches of port area tuned to 38hz firing forward into car. Does this sound like a good Idea?

just build it as strong as you can even if you dont plan on having the wall forever its well worth the extra time and money to go overboard with the 2x4s and fiberglass

Is it the one ohm or 4 ohm?
Seems either way the sub is better suited for a sealed box, though lanzar says 2 cf, looks like if the box is built for 3 cubic feet, the qtc ends up right at .85 after sub displacement and all....
What kind of space you workin with? L,W,H of available space and I could make you a cut list...

I don't think you'll be able to pull hairtricks with 1000 watts on two 15s and play music. It can still be quite loud, but not that loud.
As for the box, build around 4 cubes per 15, ported at 36Hz. Subs up, port back. Is the 40" depth right to the back of the tailgate? If so subtract 4-6" so the air has space to exit the port.

Man im not one to rain on a persons parade but to be honest man your best bet is to try and build it yourself or find someone to do it locally. The shipping on something that size and with that much weight is going to retarded. Trust me i had a box for four twelves shipped to me and ups ate my lunch
