Birch plywood, and nearly any kind of plywood with at least 7 layers, OWNS mdf all day long. Stronger, lighter, resists cracking on screw seams unlike mdf, mdf is junk. But just like Burger King and Mcdonalds 1.00 menu, people return... I Assume you're going ported? The shape of the enclosure means nearly SQUAT, I've seen round, square, etc enclosures they sound identical to the almighty 'Golden Ratio' boxes- as long as you...

LMAO!! Also has anyone done a comparison between a traditional port, Areo, Slot port, Kerfed port? In my case I'm looking at either a Slot port Or doing a Kerf port. and to see if there is any difference in the output between the reglular slot port compared to a kerf port. Like if there will be a difference between doing a slot port with 45's compared to a rounded off kerf port. I guess I'll have to test it. unless anyone has...

Dont take this the wrong way at all but only 144.1db on a daily setup with 2 18's off that much power? I do 143.3 with 2 10's on 1k watts each in my daily driver :/. Like the other guy said I would look at some build logs to get some ideas of how to go about doing this... As far as glue, woodglue is stronger than the MDF itself is if you glue things together properly (by putting enough weight on it to hold it in place) and let it sit...

Keep port velocity below 30m/s from 30Hz up(or lower if you actually play stuff with content below 30Hz). If you can keep it below 20, but sometimes that requires a port way too big.
The red line is 0dB, or your reference efficiency.
Let's say you have a 87dB/w/m sub and give it 1 watt measure at 1 meter on an infinite baffle at 1kHz, this is the SPL you would read.
If you are below the ...

Going to start a new build in my 1996 Honda Accord. Right now I have a box built by Chris Norris in there, doin a 144.1 @ 51hz, and not satisfied, so I'm going for SPL on this one. The current box was built for daily, port on passenger side, both subs and port up. Box is great, but now I'm looking for numbers.
Current Equipment:
2 Ascendent Audio 18" Mayhem, D2 coils
2 Sundown SAZ-3000s...

Equal or better to the W6? So you're looking for Sound quality I take it?
What space, budget, power, front stage do you have?

Wow, I have not seen anyone running USD horns in a long time. I've got a couple laying around here myself. How do they sound on top of the focals?
As for as db's, it would be impossible to tell what you system could do without metering it. Also you did not tell us what kind of enclosure the sub is in?
