The oil pressure was 8psi at a 700 RPM idle. As soon as the engine came up off idle, the pressure would jump up to 40psi and get progressively higher with in increase in RPM. Never a knock, tick or clatter out of the engine though.

Maybe it doesn't work with the RWD front cross member, but I have the 4x4, and it might be different. So we'll see if I can't make some kind of monumental error!!

Wiring question
Published (2009-12-15 11:13:00)
Mine is run using all the stock pieces and locations on the Driver's side fender. (also a '97) I used the Starter cable from the donor (a '92 Lincoln Mrk VII LSC) as it was long enough. I think my 4.0 starter was on the driver's side? My wiring may be different as the '92 HO uses a mini starter stock.

These trucks with V8s in them are all experiments, I say F&% it... put it on, get it running, if it moves too much, you'll have a fuel leak and hopefully won't burn the house or the truck to the ground. If not, you'll be ok. LOL.

Excellent guide on cam selection
Published (2009-12-18 20:15:00)
That is kind of funny. Though most of those cams have been shown as good basic cams for mild builds and are relatively cheap. Probably why they are so popular. I used 2 on the list with good results.....well three with the stocker. The garage sale cams are always good for a "what is this cam" thread. What is a lmnop cam? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I just got that as I was typing the question. Now it's even funnier.

This 5.0 HO pulled at pick a part from a Merc cougar '93; Looked rebuilt once or twice, I found the problem during tear down, that the shop(s) the previous owner went to missed. The stock balancer was obviously seperating, becoming imbalanced, between the inner/outer rings, and the rubber/bonding compound looked shoddy. I think he finally gave up on it and sent it to the yard. the bores still...

go to your local autoparts store. and get a standard ford starter solonoid ( relay ). replace your current 1 with that. then you should be able to extend the small wire that went to the starter mounted solonoid ( around '94 Ford decided to use both types ) to the S terminal on the new solonoid.. you can elliminate the wire from the battery and just use the new solonoid after that.
