Vibration at 70km/ph
Published (2009-12-14 16:14:00)
It is a possibility, but usually a warped driveshaft will start vibrate and only get worse as speed increases. We once had a Cobra owner complain of a vibration at 80 MPH, after finding a suitable patch of interstate that was relatively traffic free and completely cop free, we verified the vibration from 80 MPH on up.

Vibration at 70km/ph
Published (2009-12-14 13:00:00)
Posted this in Drivetrain Tech, but maybe it's an issue with the 3.0 itself? As I accelerate, when my auto tranny shifts into what I believe is the bottom of the fourth gear, RIGHT on 70km/ph, I get a slight vibration, if I'm coasting at 70km/ph with the accelerator depressed to keep me at 70km/ph. The vibration is not evident at any other speeds, has nothing to do with my tires (rotated and inspected 2 days ago) My reading on here...

Taurus 3.0 dohc?

Thank you for your good info!! Btw, it does not appear to consume or lose any oil between changes, so I don't at this time think the valve is bad, but can a cracked hose cause a stumble between 1300 and 2300 rpm when at cruising speed, then stop and pick back up smoothly when more throttle is applied?

Those numbers are fine. Even a brand new engine can have some variance from cylinder to cylinder. Having a cylinder that is 8% off the mean on a used engine is perfectly normal.

Of course I am. I am having a complete mechanical and computer diagnostic done as a result of a catastrophic overheat resulting in head gaskets and...

3.0 to 4.0 swap

Quote: Posted by Adam Baker Dimensionally it shouldn't be much different than a 3.0. I think you'd be fine w/ a 4.0. If I remember right, all the accessories fit between the frame rails, or very close, similar to the 3.0, so I think you'll be fine. sweet thanks man.... now the search begins!

Bought a 2004 White Lightning with 34,000 showing, almost factory stock. I have a 2000,Ranger 4x4 auto, giving a cel code PO401 I'm replacing the
DPFE tomorrow, and was wondering if that will help with high idle speed.
In gear it idles at 1100-1200 rpm, unplugging the IAC has no effect.
Any ideas?
Doubt if a new DPFE will lower the idle, but maybe a ...

Kinda sounds like you need new injectors??? But thats just my thought. Hope this is of help.
Also you could get an injector buzz tester and manually fire each injector and watch the fuel pressure and see if it drops when you fire an injector. If it doesn't drop it sounds like the injector or injectors are bad.

I would not worry about those numbers at all.
A leak-down test on number 5 would mean more
than it simply being lower than the others. I'm sure the
tech doing the testing checked all this.....

My 94 has no problem with the injectors plugging up, but I am planning on cleaning them out when I do the intake gaskets. However, reflect on where you fill up and answer these questions:
- Are the 'Out of Service' bags a common sight at one or two pumps?
- Are the pumps usually slow?
- Is this franchise (BP, Shell, Chevron, Texaco, etc) a Top Tier gasoline retailer?
The first two ...

Aside from doing maintenance, The biggest difference that I noticed was after I installed my underdrive pulleys and electric fan. Those two mods bumped my fuel mileage up 3-4 mpg. I don't know which would have the bigger impact separatley, because both were installed at the same time, but reducing the drag, and parasitic loss really helped. I bought the full set of pulleys, and a new OEM fan from...

Taurus 3.0 dohc?
Anyone have knowledge of the 3.0 dohc V-6 in 2004 or so Taurus sedans? Pulled a P0303 and a P0316 from my dads '04 SES and am curious as to how too and what is required to change firewall side plugs! I know you need to remove the upper plastic intake manifold, but what else besides gaskets? And what about the plug on...

I'm not understanding your concern.
The 4.0 fits in the engine bay. Ford made literally millions of them.
Unless you're talking about how low the oil pan sits v.s. the 3.0 or something trivial like that, why would the 4.0's size difference be a concern?

Maybe a couple HP. Going by your sig, I would say to get a decent cat back exhaust, first. Then do a P&P job.

I've done the bypass and I've never had a problem at colder temps. Running a 180* T-stat and using a high quality gasoline like Mobile will do more to help eliminate pinging than the bypass will.

Thats a good question. I've been wondering the same thing. I've used Seafoam several times and I've always had someone shut it down manually due to the potential hydro lock concerns posted at the time. I've noticed lately that Seafoam says in a Youtube video that you pour enough to stall the engine so now I guess we could do whichever makes us comfortable.
Ill probably continue to have ...
