you need a 3 jaw puller, it has a bolt in the middle that threads into the pump and pulls the pulley off, then you have to get a bolt with a washer to press it back on,( make sure its the right threads on the bolt).

88 2.9 started for a bit then quit.... Just went to drive my 88 and started as usual. Backed it up and it died. Checked the fuel all appears good. Pressures and all. There is not spark at all. Ran codes and got KOEO 21 & 24 and Memory code 14. The motor didn't run long enough to warm up at all. Any ideas? Thanks, funtwohunt...

Shouldnt be too bad. Just take all the wiring from the 2.9, and the tranny and put it in the 84. I dont know much about the layout of G1 Rangers so I cant tell you of other issues, but from a pure swap standpoint, if you change the engine, wiring and tranny, it should work.

As in, you bought a new alternator and it's doing this? If so, take it back and get a replacement! It sounds like the voltage regulator in the alternator is dead.
