Gold Bugs Are Warned, Again
Published (2009-12-14 12:48:00)
Gold Bugs Are Warned, Again by: Cam Hui December 10, 2009 Here is an embarrassing question for gold bugs. The chart below shows that the price of gold decisively moved to all-time highs in early October, notwithstanding the recent pullback. Meanwhile, the Amex Gold Bugs Index (HUI) barely challenged its old highs. What happened to the thesis that gold stocks are a levered play on the price of gold? In case you thought I was cherry picking gold...

John Mauldin's outside the box Today I am speaking at a local conference here in Dallas for my friends Charles and Louis Gave of GaveKal along with George Friedman of Stratfor, and get to finally meet Anatole Kaletsky. They graciously allowed me to send their latest Five Corners report as this week's Outside the Box. I find their research to be very thought-provoking as they are one of the main sources of optimism in my ususal...

THE GOLD BASIS IS DEAD ― LONG LIVE THE GOLD BASIS! by Antal E. Fekete, Professor of Money and Banking San Francisco School of Economics October 19, 2009 Fool?s gold basis A year ago I conducted a Seminar on the gold basis and backwardation in Canberra, Australia. I suggested to my audience that the gold basis (premium in the nearby futures on spot gold, with negative basis meaning backwardation) as a ?pristine indicator that, unlike...

stone / board, I do not understand the leverage. Is Mr Clark correct in assuming this near 5 to 1 ratio? Seems to me it should be closer to 1 to 1. "The U.S. dollar index, a six-currency gauge of the greenback?s value, has dropped 7.8% so far this year (as of December 3). Meanwhile, gold is up 38.7% year-to-date. In other words, for every 1% drop in the dollar index, gold has risen 4.9%" full article Jeff Clark, Editor,...

Neo-Feudal Casino-Gulag Plantation Economy Minion Oct 18, 2009 at 9:29 am I think what we are seeing is a paradigm shift from nationalistic monopolists and uber-rich entities screwing their own populations using their government control, to one of multi-national entities and criminal syndicates working together to fleece not only the US, but much of the rest of the world. That?s cross-border screwing, which changes the nature of the...

stone...I decided Friday to wait for POG $1,100 to start buying silver and a few mining shares...I wholly expect $1,070 and possibly $1,040...I doubt we'll ever see sub-$1,000 POG in the next few years...too many big players will buy the dips...heck, it's $20 vertical right now...they may never let me in...

Gold, the Comex and Exchange For Physical
This report below comes from John Cheney of Service Analytics.
We would not conclude that you cannot get gold from the Comex in the exercise of your futures contract. "Cash settled" is nothing new, and we ourselves have done this in the past. But we have been speaking with other traders and funds, and some are spotting a ...

It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Chapman has been totally against GLD and SLV since they started. It's really scare when Bob Chapman becomes the voice of reason, huh?
Another story is about GLD, a leading gold ETF, which publishes its bar-list every Friday at the close of business, reporting the serial number of every bar in inventory. The list is customarily ...

I was in that shift point and only got one weeks check, not two. A phone recording said it was approved and I would get it next week. One they ran out of money, or 2 they needed phony numbers last week.
Michigan will pay (with extensions) about 98 weeks if I am not mistaken.

acy...all he said was 'for every 1% drop in the dollar index, gold has risen 4.9%.' This year. It could have been 2% for 1% or 20% for 1%. It's just the ratio of the dollars fall against gold's rise.
I don't think it has anything to do with 'leverage' per se.
