You didn't disable the framerate limit in Borderlands noob. Sort that out and you will get better FPS with the 5870. RE5 you are CPU limited. Get a better CPU. RFG and NFS:S are both due patches soon to increase performance but you still need a better CPU.

Dave Baumann from AMD told me in a phone call there were several thousand worldwide. I don't think they restricted NA to 350 out of the world wide allocation.

No doubt the 5000 series is awesome but........ do you have a big need to upgrade right now? You have not been happy with ATI's drivers, why not wait and see what Fermi brings? Worse thing that could happen is you end up getting a 5000 series but cheaper when Fermi finally launches.

I tried using SSAA on NFS Shift, but I can't stand the screen being blurred. As I haven't figured out how to compensate for LOD bias, I haven't really tried turning it on. But from what I saw, there's a performance hit (sorry no numbers since I didn't really do any benchmarking) but the AA quality is really excellent, sans the blur.

Well,given that i have on order a pair of HD5970's for some quad crossfire fun,and even considering i have an i7 running at 4.2 Ghz,i'm still seriously screwed trying to uncork all the speed that the cards are capable of aren't i? I don't see how anyone can guess what kind of terms Nvidia would be looking for. And why is Nvidia claiming they are waiting for AMD to pick up the phone? Why don't they contact AMD themselves with an offer, it's their tech that they are trying to proliferate.
