Honestly, it's great for all players to feel like they are free to do absolutely anything. My character for instance would have definitely murdered the fighter in his sleep later that night and pretended we were ambushed. I might have murdered the bluffing player too. Depends on my mood.

If it had to be done, I'd gladly keep hold of many of the ideas that have given D&D it's well deserved time at the top. The Great Wheel cosmology, Githzerai/yanki, Ravenloft, Owlbears, Mind Flayers and Beholders. Spelljammer ships, The Hand & Eye of Vecna, Alignments as an objective cosmic truth, Tanar'ri & Baatezu. Subterranean matriarchal torture elves, good old fashioned dungeon crawling. All that good...

Yay! Someone else who now knows Henry Cowell's greatness! In terms of contemporary film scores don't forget Wendy Carlos's wonderful work for Kubrick's "The Shining." Truly scary.

Psh. That's too much of a loss of freedom. Just get yourself a Staff Grace (or is it Ring, I forget) and learn Spirit Flaying Meditation. This allows you to cut off traits you don't want at any time. Permanent mutations? Permanent Limit? Say goodbye! Best of all, you can remove those traist without disrupting the Charms and other traits which require them as prerequisites. So run up to five points of permanent limit, buy yourself...

Jamz, from the Earthdawn boards has done a couple of kick-ass Excel sheets - one of them for Shadowrun 4e.
Check it out here .
Cheers!

Neat, the specialization thing might work well. It be interesting to test it out. I may have to try it. I don't know about aliens though, I've not had my print copy long and have been reading it and waiting for inspiration.
Recently I switched Derelict Delvers skills from: X Good, and Y Fair to something more like 1 Excellent (Your class skill focus), and 2 Good and 3 Fair skills. For ...

I think that's a pretty cool merit. Especially if someone is running some kind of Twilight-inspired chronicle.

I've seen TV in fantasy, done pretty much straight.
There is no point where "I'm out" but that's because I view genre purity with wry amusement. If they wave there hands and chant, its magic. If they spout formulas and push a button, then its sci-fi. No other difference is involved.

BESM is unbalanced. That is, some attributes are more powerful than others that cost the same. It is really easy to create a munchkinized, out-of-control, over-the-top character that dominates combat (or another aspect of the game). And its up to the GM (and the other players) to either prevent or make such characters fun and interesting without ruining the fun of the other players. But in my ...

Hmm, I'd say BRP as I find it an elegant little system that disappears during play. I've actually thought about running 1889 with it myself. Snag 'Sailor on the Seas of Fate' for ship rules and you're set. I'm afraid it is one of those awful 80s games.
Regardless, I'm pretty excited to see those D6 links.

However, how about this...
The above story is something that Elven elders tell to children, but is nothing at all like the truth. In fact, the Gods had no direct hand in the creation of Elves, they were an accident, a by-product of Creation. Elves were spawned from the maggots and parasites that riddled the body...

I bet it has something to do with the license being 2 kajillion dollars.
And then you'd be automatically competing with the second biggest RPG manufacturer (If WW wasn't the one to get the license, of course).

It sounds like a bandit fight wasn't what they wanted to do (or not all of them), and they were looking for a way around it. While it may have been somewhat ruthless to ignore the hostage, or whatever, it seemed like a reasonable attempt to avoid a conflict (this isn't my problem, let's just get out of here - provides a reasonable hook for later character development, too).
It sounds like ...

I should mention that I've already ordered Corum from Chaosium, as I prefer the Corum stories over the Elric ones, and the price seemed reasonable (I guess that Chaosium is trying to unload its stock, as it's no longer producing the game).
More generally, I'm not a huge fan of Moorcock's fiction overall (I don't dislike it either -- some stories I'm quite fond of), but I really like his ...
