Episode 16 - Stardust Memory We open with Isumi and her mom relaxing in the Shimoda Hot Springs. Hatsuo wonders where Nagi is right now, while Isumi wants to know if she can really get her powers back this way. Oh, just have faith in your mom. That butler though, Hayate was it? They are so similar aren't they? Hatsuo can see why even cynical Nagi would trust him so quickly. She was really shocked at how alike they are when she first met...

That was insane, I wonder if any of the bones got forced up into the helmet as well. Meat Man was awesome too, I cackled alongside Tory.

It's been a while since I watched the very beginning of the series. I
remember being a bit taken aback by it, since I started watching early in
the third season and went back to the beginning a while later. The rough
edges will indeed get smoothed out to a considerable degree.

Quick montage that shows almost everything I just described above in about 60 seconds. Setting the tone: It starts with a SKYSCRAPER EXPLODING!!! (Scheduled demolition, but so what?)
Media reference: "Playing tonight: Priss and the Replicants." I suppose the Bladerunners are playing tomorrow?

From what I recall, and this has been a few years, so grain of salt, Cobb had become somewhat disenchanted with how they were neutering Tyr into what I felt was a Worf clone.
As for Wolfe, that one I'm more sure of. They encouraged him to leave, since it was thought that these grand arcs he had planned wasn't what The People wanted. The People wanted episodic shows and Kevin running ...

It's an excellent series. It took a little bit for Cranston to find his ground as a dramatic actor (a lot of his bodily motions early in the series -- like running -- were more comedic expressions than dramatic), but he really hit his mark eventually. You're quite right in identifying Hank as an important and complex character... I can't wait to see how he gets developed in later seasons.
And ...

I really am afraid they're moving too fast with the whole... able to talk to home thing. I have to admit I'm not really looking forward to all the Earth Soap Opera stuff. It just seems like an excuse to go on even less budget or something.
I'm still hoping, badly, that they break down or something.

Challenge of the GoBots.
I liked Transformers as a kid. Not massively, I was a fantasy fan first even then so it was He-Man all the way for me. Even so, I recognised the quality of TF enough to see this for the piece of shit cash in, rip off, ropey clone that it was.

I think the reactions against it are totally unjustified, personally. I see the Red Matter as a McGuffin, so what it actually is matters far less than how other characters treat it. The physicist I went to see the movie with saw it slightly differently. He went "eh, it's exotic matter. Big deal, no problem there" and shrugged.
The fan response I've seen against it -- some even here, IIRC ...

Every time I watch more Hayate, I'm surprised at how good it is. Off-the-wall references and all. Sometimes I forget this and don't watch it, but I think I am foolish to do so. I knew it was good after he got in a fight with imaginary Santa, but the first true crackup was the 'I must run away' scene.
Absurd comedy is surprisingly hard to ...

Calling Inara a whore is like calling a gourmet chef a cook, or like calling Superman a vigilante. While correct at a very basic level, it misses so much of the point as to be effectively inaccurate.

I'll throw a few more logs in the fire:
Reboot - A show that actually understood what it was like to have a plot. (Especially the later seasons.) A real likeable cast of characters, and the first really cool series from then Mainframe.
Actually, I LOVED Mainframe's non-kiddy stuff.
Action Man was actually pretty cool in a weird sorta way.
And the various TV movie Hot ...
