How does one determine the prop size of an unknown propeller ? I have a prop from a downed model, but it is custom, so i have no idea how to find out what the prop size, or diensions are. Please help! Also, how do i find out what kind of brushless motor i need for my new spit.? It has a eflite li-po , e flight 25 amp esc, and the old brushless i had burnt out. I found out its max was 12 amps...

I am looking to purchase a motor for a sebart sukhoi 30e and wanted to know what the difference is between the hacker 30-10Xl and 30-8Xl is? I can get a 8XL for a good price used, but is it going to pull the airframe alright? If anyone else has some other suggestions please chime in.

Hello I need your help. I have purchased this tucano model by Phoenix Model. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=0 01452648&I=LXRLR6&P=K As you can see, Tucano has a very beatiful design and it is a brazilian air force trainer plane. Originally, Tucano model is suggested to be glow powered .46. But I am considerating a eletric conversion . For this, I took Great ...

Hey i have a spitfire with a eflight 25 amp brushless esc, a random no name reciever, and a raiden crappy brushless motor . I hooked up the li-po , and the motor twitched for a while and only whined. The second attempt, i let the motor cool down because it got kinda hot, and charged the battery some more. The motor worked perfectly but it spun backwards for my prop, so it pushed not pulled. I...

Hello all.. I'm a little vague on the difference between a regular ESC and a High Voltage ESC. Let's say I need to choose between the the CC Phoenix 80 Amp ESC http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=L XGVS4&P=M and the CC Phoenix 85 Amp HV ESC: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=L XLBY4&P=M There are few differences I see, ...

I sometimes see a motor on a plane that runs real good but I don't know where to get one. Is there a way to match the motors? I look at another motor and they look the same but how can you tell if the windings are the same and it has the same power or RPM's ? Just getting close is good enough. Here is a pic of the motor I wanted to find a match for. I think its either 1100kv or 1360kv. Any help ...

I just bought a eflight 2h amp esc and a 11.1v 1500map lipo and i just charged it 4 about 1 hour and tried to plug it in thinking it would work because i plugged it in to my regular receiver. Everything went fine including the start up beeps and it looked great. The ony problem is the motor keeps twitching instead of spinning and it also whines. What is wrong please help!! I spent 200 ...

Hello Everyone, I am kinda new to flying so please be patient with 'stupid' questions I might ask. At the beginning of the summer, my 21 yoa son decided to get into RC planes. Wanting to spend time with him, I too decided to join the hobby. Since that time, I have spent numerous fun filled hours flying my Supercub which has now been modified big time. For a present, my son purchased a ...

Guys & Gals, In honor of the upcoming holiday, here's a WEIRD one for you! I've got a Castle Thunderbird 54 ESC running a 35-36-1200 Rimfire, turning an APC 11x7 thin electric prop. Flown this setup maybe 10 times with no problems. Two flights ago I notice the plane is sluggish wouldn't hover, slow transition from low to high throttle, etc... Landed and the batt was a bit warm ...

I recently acquired a Great Planes Slinger through a memeber in the classifieds on here. Using a Hi max brushless motor and a Silver series 25amp brushless controller. I finally got to fly it yesterday. Setup really cooks will climb out of sight. I'm using a couple of 3s 2200mah packs with it. They have a discharge rate of 20c. The other owner was using some 2100 15c packs also 3s. The ...

Hacking an ESC - 5 new posts

I am wondering if anyone has tried hacking an ESC . I know that the E-Flite 20Amp ESC has pads on the circuit board corresponding to the in-circuit programming pins of the Atmel processor. I'm thinking that it may be possible to burn the Atmel EEPROM with custom code. The Hyperion Titan 10A does not have the pads, but it appears that the ISP pins are not in use. Which, at least, leans toward...

First let me tell you, I'm a glow engine pilot with lot of experience under my belt on building kits, but this thing about Kv, ESC, balanced chargin, etc. proves to be a little confusing for me. From what I know (and it's not too much) is that the motor, ESC, and batteries shuld be carefuly matched for maximum performance. Abour invesment, I've told to put my money in the ESC system (bigger is...

I have three motors to choose from. 1. MEGA 16/15/2 2. MEGA 16/7/7 and 3. VM 2020/20 I also have a Hangar 9 Aspire powered 2M glider. I really don't want to use the stock Aspire motor and happen to have the three motors above available. Can I use one or all of these? What prop? Geared? Battery ? ESC ? Any help appreciated.
