I'm stepping up from a .40 size low-wing trainer to the Venus II .90 size pattern plane with an OS 120AX engine. OH MY!!! I received the wrong radio from Tower, twice, and had to borrow a 6ch radio from a very generous club member, so all I was able to do was install the receiver, center the servos, and run a break-in tank of fuel through the engine (need to set up throws, coordinate dual ...

Im looking to pick a new Spektrum DX7(airplane version) within the month and want to know which website has the best price or sale. So far the best deal I found was on Advantage Hobby, the price is $349.99 with a 5% discount for new customers. After the 5% off it comes out to 332.49 with free shipping. Can anyone top this deal. Thanks < Message edited by beachbrada -- 10/7/2008 ...

We are moving component from a (RIP) trainer to another plane and considering upgrading the battery pack for more flights in a day without recharging. The current battery pack is 4 NiCad’s and I’m considering 8 NiMH (4x2) in parallel, so we have the same voltage, but more current. NiMH are lighter for the same current, but we will have 8 instead of 4. The new plane is lighter, so we are ...

The manual say you should use 14 #64 rubber bands (3 1/2" X 1/4" X 1/32" ). I asked my LHS and he had never heard of that big amount of rubber on a trainer 40. He suggested putting on 4 and lifting the airplane in the wing and shake it. If the wing didn’t move you have found the right amount of rubber bands. Put on 2 extra for safety. How many rubber bands du you use on your Avistar, and...

Just want to buy all parts for a 4*-40 ARF. I will be using Futaba 3004 servos (likely from a 7C-2.4GHZ package). My question: For the servos on the throttle, what type of servo arm hardware should I be using. I would not have even asked but I notice on my trainer the throttle has a different type of connection to the servo arm..it looks like a vertical metal screw with an ...

I recently purchased a F-22 raptor pts and was wondering if the engine/servos/pushrods etc. could be transferred to the P-51 mustang ? The reason I'm interested in possibly making the change is if I severely damage the body the mustang ARF is only $120.00 V.S. $160.00 for the raptor. Just curious.....Let me know. Thanks!

Well it happened. I was going nuts with it, I was doing knife edge Spins, very fast flat spins...etc.... After doing a knife edge spin or something resembling it for about 10-15 seconds..... I did a full throttle pass with nose slightly down....... pulled up to go vertical and bam, the right side of the wing snapped right off about a 100 ft high. I saw the wing just float 200 feet and the plane...

I recently purchased a LA Racer 40 ARF and I am having a problem assembling the included fuel tank. The tank has a typical stopper with a metal back and front plate and center screw arrangement. The problem is no matter how much pressure I apply I can't get the stopper to seat in the tank. The stopper just seems too large for the opening in the tank. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance....

I've been flying my Hobbico TOWER™ Trainer™ 40 MkII RTF for the last couple of months. I picked it up cheap. Wing had a couple of tears in it rudder and stabilizer had to be replaced and fixed but she flies great. It's been a lot of fun. Anyway I'm kind of getting ready to retire her and move on to something a little more advanced I also want to move onto a little bigger plane like a 60 size. ...

For beginners who are getting started by building a kit, I'd like to suggest that you cover your model with an iron-on fabric covering like Coverite 21st Century, etc. This material adds an incredible amount of strength to the plane and will help it absorb a lot of punishment without serious damage. If you have a good flight instructor, you probably won't crash too often, but when you do, ...
