Running rich, clean throttle body?
Published (2009-12-07 14:24:00)
with you last post you made me think of something i forgot about. the ports to hook up the sync gauge.......if the vacuum plugs have fallen off of those ports it could cause some idle problems and other running problems but i would think that they would be more of a lean condition. just something to keep in mind when you get to looking.

Bike clicks after oil change

I have an 03 and I get tappet clicking and run Motul 5100 10W-40 dealer recommended, he is a friend so I trust his opinion. I have 16K km, about 10K miles. I heard the clicking is normal. You may have cleaned out the engine with the synthetic. I agree with boundsr6, if mileage is > 20K miles I might suspect needs a valve adjust. Check manual and adj at the correct interval. These engines are solid and haven't heard of premature...

05 Header on 07 R6 Complete

I am also thinking about doing something like this. I have a few questions. What do you do about the O2 sensor? I dont want to have to get a power comander. I am looking to get rid of the cat to get a better sound and since the header pretty much fits i thought this would be a good fix to not buy a full exhaust.

Bike clicks after oil change
Published (2009-11-30 17:58:00)
i baught a 2000 r6 this last january and have done 2 oil changes. first one went fine and i use regular motorcycle oil, but the bike ran hotter. so i thought that the guy i baught it from ran synthetic. so 2 weeks ago i told a local motorsports shop what i did and they said go back to synthetic as soon as possible. so i went home and changed it to synthetic, but now my bike has an inconsistant clicking until it warms past 175 degrees. so i...

Bike clicks after oil change

The best advice I can give is to run the factory yamaha oil. That's what yamaha recommends. How many miles do you have on your bike ? You may need a valve adjustment. That's better left for a pro . Kinda out of my league on that one. But you can check the how to section on here. Might be something useful on there. Good luck !!

have you tried checking the compression and also doing a leak down test.....that is going to tell you alot and is also the only two tests you havent done yet. just remember that if you are getting fuel in the cylinder and spark you still wont have power if you cant get the cylinder to properly seal for the combustion of the fuel.

Well I just got it back from tuning, and here are the results. I know this will forever be an ongoing debate "05 header mod is not as good as full system" etc. But look at it this way, with a $60 (YES WHOLE SYSTEM COST ME SIXTY DOLLARS) my bike is laying down as much hp as most full systems. Yes some systems might do more, some might do less, and we all know dyno sheets never tell the whole ...

Sticky Throttle on 07 R6 Hi all, I tried opening the throttle grip assembly and spraying WD40 down the cables but this has not helped free up the throttle. Anyone else had a sticky throttle, what did you do to remedy it? Thanks, James __________________ Confuscious ...

Try a standard air filter. K&N are renowned for causing issues such as you are experiencing. Standard filters are the only ones to go for. Try it. Its a quick and easy swap out, and you will be able to try it within 15 mins. Nothing lost if it doesnt sort the problem, but my guess is that it will sort it.

Could be anything from a bad gauge cluster to a faulty rpm sensor and faulty speed sensor, or even bad wires. If you have a bit of money, try getting a new gauge cluster on ebay(only like 60 bucks). Put that on there. If it solves your problem, easy fix(and your bike may look like it has less miles). If not, sell it on ebay and move onto another idea.

The 03 or 05 will fit the difference is in the mapping (ECU changes). The 03 will work better because the 03 and 04 use a lower pressure in the fuel rail, either way your gonna want to run a different map than the one dynojet provides.

I have been reading a little bit here! I did my lowers hugger, chain guard and mid covers with the Dupont paint. I'm using Harbor freight guns, I think the same (at least the purple one) as csideblue. I still don't get why would you get orange peel. Usualy it is a problem of a too thin coat, or over atomized mix that is "drying" before it gets to the piece you are painting. Your coats need ...
