Epidurals For Back Pain

QUOTE (Maltese Cat @ Dec 13 2009, 11:47 PM) i'm ab, not sci, but i do know about chronic back pain having done silly things to discs (L4/L5), and I went through series of epidurals and lumbar nerve root blocks (and a total of 5 years of NHS attempts to sort out the chronic pain - all of which ended me up on stronger pain killers), which didnt really help at all. Looking at your profile you have quite a lot of stuff going...

Ok, as I said in my other post I am in recovery from meth abuse, and still just opioid's for pain relief. (Oxynorm aka Roxycodone) I have never had a problem with taking my dosage correctly, the "high" I get from them isn't a high I like. My fear is trading one addiction for another, and my doctor has never voiced an opinion just saying if it becomes a problem we will address it then. I don't like that type of...

Dave, young eddie's a beautiful human being but the dynamics of addiction are a bit beyond him. Love u ed, I really do! The very concept of will power, intellect, just say no, is not in our realm of thought. It's kinda like saying: "Wow, look at all those homeless people, why don't they just buy houses?" If you truly have a desire to put a lead jacket around your thoughts feelings and emotions you WILL...

Looking at your profile you have quite a lot of stuff going on at once. I eventually found relief from it all by doing a...

The very fact that you are worried about it is actually a good sign. I've been very fortunate, in my life, to have overcome the only two addictions I've had,,, cigarettes and sex. One I overcame with a lot of effort,,, the other by accident, you might say. Seems the problem you have with your doctor is one we all seem to have with ours,,, they don't want to spend a few minutes extra, talking to us. About anything. I've...

Edlee's right Dave. You can handle this better than your doctor can for you. You've got the experience. And I think you're absolutely right to be concerned with opioids for pain relief. I don't know what's the best thing for you to do but I've confidence you do.

E-s right. Glad I wasn't the A-hole who said it. An addict uses any excuse in the book to get a fix of ANY kind of drug . . . any drug that gets a high, and you'll start mixing pill cocktails until you find the right dossages. The only problem then, is when your tollerance levels go up, as with anything, you start chasing a NEW dragon. Like the CRAMPS (punk group in the eighties) said, "I Want Some New Kind Of...

QUOTE (ClaraTaylor @ Jul 16 2009, 01:39 PM) I've just come back from the hospital after discussing the results of my latest MRI scan. Seems that the disc between L4 / L5 is wearing out which might be causing much pain (on top of all the other things that are causing much pain - but hell!! This ones treatable!) The doctor now has me on the waiting list for an epidural for pain ...

I'm still trying to find something, myself. The last guy used epidural shots of corticosteriods,,, didn't see any relief at all. That was the only therapy he offered,,,, specialization taken to an extreme, I guess. He din't even have a suggestion on where to go from there. He said that his approach was a last resort for many,,, I hope he's wrong. As of now, I still take gabapentin for ...

This post is a result of a new member Libby who asked a few questions regarding theraputic massage for spinal cord people. I felt that it might be in the best interests to put the posts in the general forums rather than just returning the message to her in the hopes that it may help others in the same condition. A few of the older members may remember that I suffer from some pretty ...
