Perhaps it needs some restoration work. I have no way to tell and would need an expert to help me out. Also, I understand that there are some recommended modifications that would be beneficial. I believe the the
gentelman that ...

I don't know which one would be best but I would use either the Thorens or Empire.
For matrix encoded discs (SQ, QS, EV), you don't need to do anything as these will play fine with any good
stereo equipment. Why? There are no ultra-sonic frequencies to be traced. It is all in the audible range.
For CD-4, you need to be sure that the wiring is very low capacitance so that the ultra-sonic ...

I have no idea what a fair price for the Sansui would be. But, the most you could have possibly overpaid is $30, a couple of bucks more than one of the
King Crimson DVD-As. How could anyone pass? Enjoy the restoration!

If the
2020 has those board feed-throughs, you should resolder all of them. There's good chance that it will cure your problem.
Both of my 2050s had intermittant drop outs, etc. when I first got them and doing the above mentioned thing fixed them both.
Some will say to completely remove the old solder and pins and replace with new wire and use new solder but I just put some flux on them ...
