Yeah, I read in one of the other threads that lining up tracks is a real pain. I've never tried it myself, but I believe it! Hadn't thought about phasing issues, but now that you mention it... it wouldn't surprise me. Probably would be even more problematic than I originally thought.

You would never get that to line up properly. You could possibly get it to be close, but it would probably have phasing issues.

I learned quickly in capturing analog 8 channel reels that you must arm 8 tracks and get it all at once because getting 4 in one pass and then syncing two passes was pretty insane. So you get a soundcard with at least 8 inputs and start again. This 8 track tape adventure would be the same song and dance.

A 4-channel sound card is ok for getting first the whole Program 1, then the whole Program 2. With a Q8 head, of course... if you don't have it, get one: it saves you from complete frustration.

Creative Labs DTS-610 will convert 5.1 analog to DTS 5.1 digital, feed that to the receiver digital input. Recently was on sale at Amazon for $25.00. Also recently several on ebay for a reasonable price. vinylguy4

Use a patch cord like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...terValue=Audio There are cheaper ones around out there.

I would guess that the drive belt is slipping and needs to be replaced. Also, be sure you have the line voltage switch in the proper position for your location. MTGC (Michael)

I am not familiar with this particular unit, but I believe that the usual routine of cleaning all pots with De-Oxit and checking for open leads on the boards will fix a lot of problems. I am sure some of our other forum members will have unit specific information for you. MTGC (Michael)

The cheapest option would be the Momitsu player and various clones, you can find information about it and the various clones online if you want to take a chance on a cheap throwaway type design. Threads at AVSForum and High Def Digest.com should cover most questions. The LG BH200 is another possibility but it is hard to find now and LG is having a tough time with firmware, I own it and I and ...
