There are some other options for you. Home Depot might have something on sale. It's always good to check them out. Also there is Wine Refrigerators, Wine Racks, Wine Coolers, Glasses & Wine Bottle Stoppers: You can buy a new one and the shipping is free on these units. Best of luck!

Humidor Question
Published (2009-12-21 04:26:00)
Does it seal OK? I think You should test the seal before making any modifications. If you lift the lid up an inch and drop it does it make the "whoosh" sound when it closes? You can try closing a flashlight in and put the humi in the dark to check if light comes through. If it still has a proper seal, then the gap shouldn't be a problem, just cosmetic. Let us know.

Hi Eric, I will be using 4oz HumiCare gel that I picked up at CI when I purchased my Humidor. I should be receiving the humidor and gel today. I will probably be moving to beads sooner or later. I figured I just buy the gel at CI since I was getting my humidor there. Dan

I did the test but with the boveda hygrometer calibration pack, and actually i was surprised how dead accurate this baby is. It showed exactly 75 % after the 24 hours period. I still don't know how the heck they make it so accurate without the need for calibration

Just curious, what is the proper method for charging them?
Distilled water, I presume? Do you soak them, spray it on them and mix, squirt on them?
I have no clue?

hmmmm..... I may be completely wrong here but here is my suggestion.
First. Stop using the solution. Throw it away.
I would open the humi and let it sit open for a couple days- hopefully it will dry out again.
After a couple days get a kitchen sponge that DOES not have a scent to it. Dampen it with DISTILLED WATER.
Plance the dampened sponge on some cellophane wrap and place it in the ...

I have a Caliber III and have tested it twice in the last year, the last
occurrence being over this past weekend. Rock-solid at 75% after 2 days in
the Boveda pak bag both times. I would definitely want to know the accuracy
of any measuring instrument in my collection! If it's off, by how much is
it off? If it reads 65% and it's high by 5 points, that's a problem
(although a worse problem if it's...

I have a cigarsavor double guillotine 60RG cigar cutter that I got at my b&m for $2.50 and i use it more now then I use my xikar and its still as sharp as the day I bought it. Xikar does make a cheaper cigar cutter for around $10 I've seen on ebay but I've never used them or seen one in person so I can't speak on its performance.
This cutter is distributed by Xikar for $4 w/ free shipping
