The "how you carry"...
Published (2009-12-21 05:29:00)
Full disclosure: I have minimal background in the realm of "tactical". The closest I ever came to being highspeed was running convoys in Iraq, and being in a gun truck a couple times when our security platoon was short a man. I don't wish to come off as a "mall ninja", but I do strive to be as tactically and technically proficient as reasonably possible (considering a completely soft 50-60hr a week job)...

bullpup M-14/M1A concept
Published (2009-12-18 23:12:00)
I don't know how many Db the change would be but all the bull-pups I have fired have sounded louder as the chamber is closer to the ear. As far as a two stage trigger, the trigger bar will have to be magic as the biggest problem with bull pups is the long reach from trigger to sear. usually gets junk in them and flexes as it gets more and more grime in the mechanism. Know it is not a sniper rifle but even the battle rifles that I have...

I don't think you want to be gun juggling and trying to remember where your pistol is during an urgent need for it. I would pick one and learn to work with it. TR

bullpup M-14/M1A concept

Looks to me like it is either adapted to the SA SOCOM16/II Series M1A. Judging by the tritium front sight and the well thought compensator along with the top rail that replaces the old fiberglass heat shield commonly found on that style of rifle. I am a big fan of my SOCOM II in its mostly stock form. I don't think it would operate as well in bullpup configuration due to the long trigger mechanism, etc... If they have over come those...

AMU John Miller Hard-Fit Barrel...

Well, let's be realistic... tinker tinker tweak and finagle, or it works out of the box? TS has more experience than I ever will on both sides of the 1911/HK debate, but *I* have not had a single issue with any of the HK's I currently own, or have owned. For me, it just falls back to always owning a tool that does the job to the point that any errors are mine and mine alone... Limiting the variables in the equation, and all that....

Sirs, Thank you for the input. I dont have a need for any bullpup type rifle. The Kel-tec is out of the question because the house commander wont give me the green light for buying a new weapon. At least not until she gets her nail kit or whatever. I can however modify the systems I already have. When I found this site, I was researching what I need for suppressing my M1A. I do need a cheek pad for the stock, other than that I am happy...

Why not step back down to a .22LR till she gets used to the report? This strikes me as a training issue, not a mechanical one.
You will likely need a longer barrel on a M-9 to have enough threads to be able to align a suppressor properly.
There will be a significant amount of blow-by with a .451+ suppressor bore and a .355 bullet passing through it.
Do you plan on keeping the can ...

Yep, they have safeties on them now instead of the . 50 cal brass safety . But to answer your question, did you check your timing? If the timing is off, it can make the trigger heavy.

Looks like that rig would be loads of fun to shoot off your weakside if you're a rightie or for a leftie in general. I don't see what issue this stock supposedly cures but I suppose that someone is always out there trying to create the self licking stamp.
