Interesting, thought he was a sure in to stay w/ the club. Doesn't mean they couldn't still sign him, so we will see what happens. This is a move mostly made to save money, and who knows how well he would do anyways in 2010.

Just doesn't make sense. $6 million for two years for PUDGE? Maybe for cheaper it would have been fine, but that's a shiny penny.

Jackson is approaching arbitration so he will get a pay raise, and the Nats are trying to keep their young talent. Edwin scares me a bit because after the all-star break his stats looked like he was back to his old self.
And after the good showing Desmond had, he shouldn't be traded.

When I first saw this report late Friday I laughed, not at the fact that the team is trying, but at the fact that Lackey would most likely look the other way at an offer from this team. Many teams are interested in the guy.
I like that the team is trying to land big name players, but this isn't going to happen after 2 straight years of horrible play. Get some solid veteran pieces to build ...
