i think granderson isnt much of a leadoff hitter, and i would put him in the 8th spot unless he earns being higher in the order

Can't say I'm too upset. He was biased. He has the red sox in on every free agent and trade target this offseason. That's not an overstatement either. Check ***** and when Peter gammons chimes in on players and see who he thinks they will go to. He also critisized manny the day he was traded like he was a fan not an analyst. Now this sounds like the Mets. They need pitching and Maine could be nice as a long man out of the pen, but instead they would rather trade him for a guy who has been nothing spectacular and declining in the last few yrs. Yeah that sounds about right......Why the hell would they do this?

I still want to know what they're going to do with him & Ichiro in that lineup. I have a feeling that they'll initially try Ichiro-Figgins as the 1-2 hitters. But I don't think Figgins will succeed as a #2 hitter.

First two options for me were Figgins and Beltre. However, it looked like both were going to get grossly overpaid, so I support this signing. I would have liked to wait it out a bit longer and seen if Beltre's price came down, but with the Mets and Boston showing interest in getting into the 2B market, it was better safe than sorry for us.
