^^^^^Yeah it could be Fun seeing those three in the outfield together, but our Power numbers would probably take a hit. I think next offseason DD will definitley have to go after some Power, Our roster doesn't have much to offer in the category.

Just checked out Diaz's winter league stats (Dominican I think) and they are sick! Not much power but he's way up on average. This guy could be a find for DD.

Whats next?/ Closer Situation
Published (2009-12-07 22:17:00)
Now that we have filled our #3 spot in rotation and cf along with bullpen, we need to address our closer situation. Personally i wanted to get Putz or Valverde. Who would you guys want? And who do you see as our number 4&5 starters. And finally What else do you see us doing?? What could we get for Laird, Etc.. Free agent wise also

Rotation?

The 4 and 5 spot most likely will go to Bonderman and Robertson. I wanna see how they stretch Bonderman's arm out in spring and if everyone avoids early injury. If anything that 5 spot will be won in spring, or it will be tossed around like it was in 09'.

I still hope that Gullien will not be on this team at the start of the season. If we could pull that off, we'd have three center fielders in our outfield, with Magglio at DH. How about.... Sizemore 2B Ordonez DH Cabrera 1B Wells RF Inge 3B Avila/Laird C [Platoon] Ramirez LF Everett SS Jackson CF This would give us a decent leadoff guy(I hope), decent average batting second, Cabby is Cabby. With Wells, I really couldn't think of...

Tigers sign Catcher Robinzon Diaz

I was actually hoping for us to pick up Diaz at the deadline last year before we brought up Avila. Actually, the Pirates are stacked at catcher as they love Doumit and they have another couple solid prospects behind him.

My thoughts are this: Obviously, the first 3 are Verlander, Porcello, and Shcerzer. I think Bonderman will rebound and have a decent #4 starter type season. Based off of his solid ending to the season and the fact that we could use a lefty is Nate. I think it is a decent rotation. Bonine/Galaraga could step in if they have a good spring. I actually really like that deal.. Scherzer has better stuff than Jackson IMO and might be better in the end than Jackson.. Austin Jackson appears that he might be ready to step in at the major league level, plus we have Wells too that can play CF. Diaz is just a depth pickup. He was cut by the Pirates. that says a lot. He is a short/stocky catcher who has hit OK in limited exposure. Not sure about his defense. At least that means we will never have to see Dane Sardhina ever again.

I think it will be Putz over Valverde.. Valverde costs a 1st round draft pick.. I wouldn't be surprised though if the Tigers just roll the dice on the young kids and allow them to develop into a role. Perry, Satterwhite, Schlereth, Zumaya (yes, if healthy he is still a viable option), Fien and Weinhardt all have a shot at making the pen. That is a ton of young high ceiling talent. I would be ...

I don't like this...not one bit. I don't want to see Rodney on this team next year, and it's essentially a win/win if you offer it to Polly. Not a good choice in my book. I also see they didn't offer Everett arb, so does that mean there's a contract already under discussion between him and the Tigs, or does DD have something else up his sleeve for SS next year?

I'd move Laird, big deal he throws out runners, he's a good back stop(should be at that size), calls a good game (which could be called from the dug out?). Rather have a guy who could hit with RISP, not hit an IF pop up in clutch situations, leg out IF hits, just plain old hit even if it moves a runner over. With all the crap I gave him he was a pleasant surprise defensively from what I was ...
