Changing my Diet for a while
Published (2009-12-15 16:18:00)
I enjoy an egg and sausage or bacon breakfast and I've read and even my doc has told me that yolks create more inflammation. I can't get to an all egg white egg type breakfast. I eat a lot of whole eggs. Maybe I am creating too much inflammation from the eggs!!! After reading the Arthritics Cookbook, which is an old book, but makes a lot of sense. I'm going off eggs for a while and bacon and the sausage and concentrate on eating...

I have been married 48 yrs. My husband is 74. We have eaten the same foods all these years, except he eats a lot more "sugary crap" than I do. He has a litle mild arthritis in his hands. He has never had any replacements. Can crawl around on his knees in the floor with the cat. Tell me why after all these years of eating the same thing that his bones are so healthy and mine are all literally crumbling. I do not have...

From what you describe, it is really hard to say if it is RA. Unfortunately, RA does run in families, so it could be. But a number of things could give similar symptoms. If it came on quickly and is isolated to just the knees, it doesn't sound like RA to me. But of course I am not a doctor, so take that as just an opinion based on my personal experience with RA. When my RA onset, I was around 50 (now 66). I had pain and swelling in a lot...

I appreciate your input. I also have fibro, so there's pain in all kinds of places. But I haven't noticed much swelling elsewhere. With RA in the family, I just couldn't help but go there, you know? I couldn't think of anything else that could give those types of symptoms. I guess I'll learn more tomorrow! Wish me luck.

According to Chinese herbal medicine arthritus is an allergy to food preservatives. I believed them 30 years ago and have never suffered from arthritus since. The book is called THE ARTHRITICS COOKBOOK and may now only be available through used book stores. I follow the food list in there and live totally normal without pain, flareups, drugs, or herbs, and have never had any joint replacements. Anyone with any form of arthritus can do the...

got the ad here on Pro Health about the "Cuddle Ewe" mattress cover, do any of you have this on your bed, has it helped you sleep? I'm mainly interested because of the Osteoarthritis I have keeps me awake at night. Thanks

Hi, I'm new to all of this and feel quite scared. I'm 31 and have just been diagnosed with poly arthritis. My doctor has told me there is nothing more she can tell me or do for me but has organised an appointment with a Rheumatologist in two months. I of course went home and started looking up on the net about Arthritis. Well there was more then I ever expected and the fact there is numerous types of Arthritis has me wondering what...

I see that many of you talk of using crutches. Did your doctors tell you to do this or is it something you have began on your own? I went to a knee guy last month and he said he didn't want to do surgery unless the pain gets unbearable which it nearly is now. My question is, should I ask my rheumy about prescribing crutches? My balance is terrible and getting up from a seat that is too low is so difficult to do without something to push...

I'm finding out how much better I do when I don't eat whole eggs. I'm trying whites instead. Pepper or nightshades veggies I try to avoid and not have as often. Like you, I find myself eating more soups and drinking chicken broth. I still haven't gone on LDN yet. I see Doc on Dec. 29th. {{{big hugs}}} :-) P.S. I'm so glad to be back online again. My computer has now 'crashed' four ...

no calcium. I've lowered my calcium intake in the last yr and only take 500 mg as I believed I had calcium deposits building in my joints. So many docs tell their patients to be on 1000 mg or more of calcium per day and I believe that is just plain bad information.

as you know, I'm only on my 10th day and yesterday I took a .25mg day dose as I didn't like waking up at 3AM and not getting back to sleep. So I have a long way to go and will go slowly as I am. I'm on the yahoo group and hearing of everyone's "trials" of taking it and figuring out how to best take it. And what they are taking it for. Very interesting med. Some people skip a few days...

I'm sooooo sorry that you have so much pain! I know what it's like to not be able to sleep due to the pain. It's almost nightly for me. Then during the day I'm in such a terrible mood because I'm one that really can't function a whole lot without sleep. I wouldn't change doctors if you have a good relationship, that is difficult to find. Maybe you can word your question to him just ...

since I want to do all I can to avoid any surgeries; knee and hip. Never know how one will weather with surgeries and, of course, the anesthesia effect on the ole body. So far after 1.5 months, I recommend LDN. Read Snoozq 1 yr anniversary report here and I have reports on my progress on the FM Board. Sorry you are having such a tough time of it. jam

it's not worth the money. It flattens out too fast. I've had mine for about 3 yrs and just keep it anyway. I have it on top my memory foam 1" topper on my sleep comfort bed. If I had the money right now I'd buy a good deep quality topper. It does keep me warm since it is made with wool but overall too flat. jam
