Enginer phev kit questions... I was wondering if folks would be willing to comment on their experiences with the mottcell batteries VS. the Thundersky batteries? Any real difference or really simular...? Also, has anyone filled the DIY kit for $999.00, with A123 systems batteries or some other better premium batteries? Any thought/ideas on this? Any info. from anyone on ...

Jan 5th 2009 I am starting this thread in the Gen2 plugin area because yesterday I put my kit into my 2005 Prius. This is temporary. When I get my Gen2 Kit then this one will go back into the 2010. I took apart the car like Doax did on his video. I installed the Pig tail onto the HV terminals. Black wire closest to the seat, Red wire closest to the back bumper. I put ...

What's coming this year for PHEV conversion? Hi everybody - I'm new here. Just got a 2008 and I absolutely love it. Researching PHEV conversions and the PICC conversion looks the best right now but man is it pricey! Any opinions as to emerging battery technology, prices coming down? If I wait a year will I be able to pay much less for a much better conversion? Speculation ...

Daox's Enginer PHEV 4kWh install Christmas came a bit early this year for me. Of course it all starts with a story, so here goes. I'd been tracking the packages since they shipped. The kit contains 4 packages total. FedEx's site claimed they delivered two of them last night. I get home from work, no packages. I was not a happy camper. I called them up and asked what the...

Engier PHEV for *NORMAL* drivers (High Speed) I'm very close to buying the 4kWh Enginer PHEV kit for my 2006 Prius with 96k Miles on it. I'm just curious, is it a good idea (rather a bad idea) to install a PHEV kit on a Prius with high miles like mine? Also, all those hypermiling tricks I stopped doing after about 30k miles. I drive it like a 'normal' car. Which means I ...

Hello everyone, about a week ago I bought a 2004 Prius for my wife. It's great and has only 34,290 miles on it! We were expecting that in town we would get better gas mileage than freeways from what we were told about hybrids. Anyway that's wrong for our situation. She works a little less than 3 miles from home, so it's a 6 mile round trip. Lots of stop signs. We also do 80-90% of our ...

I've started talking to a robotics guy I know from the local EV club about how we can use the balancer's warning to trigger some sort of pack disconnect. IMO this is pretty simple thing to do and can be done without cutting anything, and very minimal rewiring. I'm just not an electronics guru, so I need help to put it all together. My current thought is to use a simple VOX circuit (...

Could you just link several stock Prius batteries together? I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried taking 3 or 4 stock Prius battery packs and linking all of the cells in parallel? So essentially instead of having a bunch of 6.5 Ah modules, you might have 26 Ah modules. So, for example, on my 2002 Prius instead of having 1.7 Kwh pack, I would have a 7.1 Khw pack and I ...

Enginer PHEV kits for PRC Prius I've purchased the 4kwh version last week, hopefully the kit can be arrived next week. Now, I have few questions as follows: 1. As the EV button is default configure for PRC Prius, so do I need to remove the EV button and install switch on-off button, or I can just install switch on-off button beside the EV button? 2. As there ...

Thought I'd try creating a new thread so I don't bother the rest of the people dealing with other issues on the Enginer kit. I've been trying to follow Jack's and Joanna's (Plugmein2) advice and nudging my 2Kwt pack up. Previously, I was constantly plugging and unplugging the kit for 2 hours. Then letting it balance, reporting the readings, then rinse, repeat. Today, I've been watching it ...
