Am not sure I should have started new thread -- but just wanted to let y'all know that I ordered several great books for friends for Christmas relating to the DP issue -- a couple are: The Crying Tree(Rakha); Jesus on Death Row; and for my sister, who thinks she and I are on opposite sides of the fence, as she has just gotten interested in a 'victim's rights group, The Ride. Thanks again mama. I did go to this website -- source is "sant egidio", and was blown away. It seems to encompass everything we feel passionate about, and one of their origins is my fave, St. Francis of Asissi I also wrote several dp orgs. and asked why they did not participate in this event. Thank you for bringing us this beautiful message. Don't forget -- a letter to editor about compassion at this time of year...

Hello Thankyou for the thread Joolz although it broke my heart whatching it that poor family !! It lead me to read about Gregory Wright and I was appauled to find that another man had confessed to the murder that he was executed for !!!! It is so so WRONG any execution is !!! SHO x

Medical care to DR inmates is minimal at best. They often don't have basic
medical attention. I have a PP on DR in LA and he has had quite good care,
but I read an article recently where a DR inmate with terminal cancer was
given only pain relief, and that sadly would tie in with other cases I know

A friend has just e-mailed me a report on a poll carried out by Harris Interactive which apparently shows that 54% of people would back the reintroduction of the death penalty here in the UK. 30% would be against it.
Unfortunately I can't find the link, but of those in favour, 94% want it for murder, 68% for "war crimes", 62% for child abuse, 45% for rapists and those involved in gun crime ...
