Babies are cute, that's why :) (UUs don't do the profession of faith thing until high school age, after the teenager has taken a fairly long course preparing them for it.)

That's clearly not true across the board, but it's not an entirely unfounded perception. We get that you think you're top of the heap, but we (rest of the world) really don't care. For all your lack of class distinction and all men are created equal, there's a reasonable...

So yeah, there's actual evidence. That is far from conclusive. UC is cutting jobs and raising tuition by 36%. Last year (just before the stimulus) the K-12 went through the same cutting and threatening to lay off teacher, but they...

When they are used for short term capital gain, they're not being used as designed and therefore flaws in their design when being used not-as-intended tend to surface. Kendien brings up a good point(s). Creac's answer is essentially mine. I'm not suggesting people should have to sign real contracts and...

I would trust the French to consider silverware and decent food a survival mechanism of roughing it during a war. The wine may not be a good year, but it shall be served! I've been told by colleagues that worked with the French in Africa that their military puts a huge emphasis on their field mess halls - they have a full mess hall in some places where we give out MREs - but then, that also means that they can't deploy without more...

His Presidency is already a failure...his agenda floundering before him in its death throws. Good stuff. Which Republicans are even considered in the running for a 2012 presidential candidacy? Some of the potential options,...

Got cleared back to full duty early last week, just in time for the Christmas rush. Mail volume has picked up to the point where we are now having to run 12 hour shifts. Broke the record on incoming mail volume by 16,000 lbs. this past Monday. Fun fact for those who keep a tab on the price tag for this war: KBR charges $35 per person for the Friday night meal which comes out to roughly $45 million a year for just Bagram. Today's PT...

(Or, to put it another way, what the heck are you talking about?) the "hide the decline" phrase is what you started focusing on. after that, my fault you're right-you started with poisoning the well space aliens bit. You misspelled "stuff I have no response to." what was i supposed to respond to? you're a fanboi making excuses for your heroes. the irony is you're a denialist of the suggestion...

Gandol teh Pirate wrote: Nice to know your priorities are based on pettiness. Thanks for coming clean at least. You're aware that there is in fact a whole range of importance between petty and profound, I'm sure. I'd rate this particular occurence as neither petty nor profound, but definitely troubling. What I don't get is why you are defending it. I mean, if the bow was no big deal, why are you posting about it? And if...

Wouldn't taxing the purchase of stocks tend to stifle the expansion of businesses by discouraging people from buying the stocks (because that tax - which
is a double whammy since it's levied both on the purchase and sale - erodes any potential gains and makes stocks fundamentally less attractive)? And
don't businesses need to grow and raise capital (through sale of stocks) in order to be able ...

So, I'm baffled by all of this. Why is it that a child's christening is seen as so important to people who are not believers? What's been your
experience with this sort of thing? Is it kind of the same sort of thing as having a wedding in a church? Is it just the thing to do? If so, that's ok.
I'm actually just happy to know that people want to make this sort of thing a part of their ...

LOL, but Acorn is just helping the local people. You are just The Man trying to keep working girls down.
Another example - sitting on a committe panel before start time, a Californian legislator does not realize that the microphone is on when discussing his conquests in explicit detail .

Povided you have certainty you have the right parties responsible, it's nice to see swift justice like that.
Unfortunately, they don't have much of a track record for certainty.

The public option should be what all government employees must submit to as their provider. Then, maybe I'd concede. Just to watch Pelosi squirm.

I can't play by the rules, sorry. I would if I could, but my answer is the I don't know. The evidence and analysis from both sides seems credible. And,
not being a neocon, I'm uncomfortable applying my own brand of "by the bootstraps" layman's logic as the trump card.
