Braxton Hicks
Published (2009-11-09 14:10:00)
Well, I'm not sure if what happened was BH or just her balling herself up.? DH and I had, um... spent some time together... so my abs were being used pretty heavily.? At the end I felt my tummy and it was hard as a rock, harder than I've ever felt it, but it was all below my navel.? It kind of freaked me out, so I stood up and walked around for a minute or two and things went back to normal.? I would have thought that BH's...

Oh yay! You are SO close! Inductions usually take a back seat to women in actual labor unless there's an emergent medical reason to do it right away-- so sometimes they try to reschedule. I hope they can get you in either Wed or Thursday to optimize DHs time off :) I also wanted to encourage you that inductions don't necessarily hurt more! I was induced with my 1st who was 2 weeks overdue and not budging and it was a fabulous...

Numbness and spasm in face
Published (2009-11-01 10:51:00)
Just curious what you ladies think...I have not felt well basically my entire pg (bad m/s, followed by flu/bronchitis for the past two weeks)...I have been having occassional headaches that seem fairly usual.? Yesterday I had one most of the day, this morning it seems to have dissipated, but in the past hour I have been having weird numbness and muscle spasms on the left side/corner of my mouth.? Its intermittent and I don't know if I...

No way! I'm not getting it! I don't trust the regular flu shot! I'm just VERY careful at work (I teach middle school). I also have asthma so with everything, I feel like I'm just going to be very cautious around people. It's just that what I have found doesn't make me feel any better about the shot. We are planning on very selective vaccinations with our baby when it comes. I think it's just up to you to do...

I would definitely call just to have them check on you.? I get weird muscles twitches and such just from being really tired, but it could also be something like Bell's palsey.? I think that I've heard that it can be a little more common in pregnancy.? That isn't anything major, and usually corrects itself, but can be an annoyance.? I'd call just to check.? :-) Prayers!

vaccine?
Published (2009-11-02 19:25:00)
I got my H1N1 vaccine at my last OB appt on October 22nd. I was given 2 pages of information about the shot, a chance to talk to my doctor before I got shot, a card to say I was shot and then told to be careful for 2 weeks while I "grow" the antibodies. It didn't hurt when I got the shot (no burning or pain) and I have been exposed at least 3 times in the last 2 weeks and I am still not sick, even though my best friend,...

I've decided not to get the shot and just pray and trust that GOD won't let me get sick with H1N1.? Plus, I'm not at high risk for catching it 'cause I don't go anywhere very much, I don't have a job and my husband works but he's only around three or four men a day.? I try to stay home as much as I can.? Anyway, I'll be praying for those of you who don't want the vaccine. Kellie

For me Braxton Hicks started early on (before 20 weeeks) as light cramps similar to menstrual cramps, just not as intense (I used to have killer cramps before kids) and then the got more and more noticeable with tightening of the outside of my tummy at the same time as the cramps as I got closer to birth. I've heard that Braxton Hicks shouldn't hurt, but that wasn't really the case for me. They...

Well, that sounds exciting for sure! I'm a bit confused why he'd want to induce you before your due date, though? Don't they usually wait until after you are a bit overdue to give your body the chance to go into labour on it's own? And as you said it will probably hurt more with an induction. Just curious. :) But the best of luck to you anyways! How exciting to know that very soon you'll be ...

No we aren't getting either vaccine in our household. We do (most) vaccinations, but skip the chicken pox and flu shots. Also we won't be doing Hep B because it caused my lupus. (In Canada Hep B is done in 7th grade). Other than that, we do the rest of the mandatory ones, but we start at 6 months, and only do one shot at a time. (So pediacel at 6m and prevnar at 7m and so on). Andrea

I think what I wanted to ask about mostly for the first appointment, was just what to expect from my prenatal care.  For example, how often would I be seen, when and how often would they do u/s, what other testing do they offer and is it required (like the testing for trisomy, nuchal translucency u/s, etc.).  Also, I would want to ask about prenatal vitamins if you aren't already on them.  ...

Every momma's body is different :) I tend to start out feeling/looking pretty bloated and stay at that stage for awhile. The uterus isn't high enough to actually BE your belly but does push other "stuff" up and out as it grows. I'm almost 20 weeks and my tummy is JUST getting to the point where it's firmer instead of just bloaty/chubby looking- but I still don't look terribly pg. (This is my ...
