It appears to be an obligatory part of justice in most western countries that the rights of the law breaker always take precedence over those of the victim. Similarly the rights of a business man who, in good faith, provides goods or services always comes second best to those of the reluctant debtor who does not want to pay for them. Also most privacy legislation protects and hides the wrongdoer from the wronged. As it was and ever shall be.

Wasn't the point. Beating someone, etc, with the clear desire to hurt them about as much as you can strikes me as worse than driving carelessly, however bad driving carelessly may be. __________________ Never miss a good chance to shut up. -- Will Rogers, 1879 - 1935 QOTD My blog: Things Have Changed

Good question! I suppose that Simpson's is mostly watched by children, and so, they decided that they need a warning for the protection of smaller kids. It's ridiculous! Why can't they leave it up to the parents to decide which shows their children are allowed to watch?

And maybe it has : You may have heard the story of the man who spent his first day in jail. That evening, all of the inmates gathered about in the courtyard. One man would call out a number, and then the rest would laugh heartily. Another number would then be called, with even more laughter. So it went for the evening. When the man returned to his cell, he turned to his cell-mate and asked, “What was going on out there?” “Oh,” his...

Quote: Berman and Braga started with the temporal crap. Enterprise was full of it which is why I stopped watching it. Once they had gotten away with breaking the the original Star Trek time line in First Contact I think they figured anything goes. In that one they didn't even try to be careful about making changes. Pretty much anything after that, which includes Enterprise, is basically a parallel Universe. F __________________...

Are Mobile Phone a Nuisance?

I hate the dreaded mobile phone they seem to be everywhere you go with some moron shouting into them. Why do you need a mobile phone if you have to shout at them. And when I mean everywhere they certainly are; in church, on the train, on buses and coaches, in supermarkets and toilets. They insanely shout into saying, 'I'm on the train/bus/coach.' Then you stare at them and they have the cheek to say 'stop listening to my...

I know Lol as 'laugh out loud' But maybe seen as 'lots of laughter' or indeed 'lots of love' I think it came from web speak rather than text. Not sure though maybe one of the said younger generation may give us a clue. I don't find it offensive and rather people would use it in these days of written communication as so much is taken in the wrong context or spirit.

Does that then mean that anything shown on Swiss TV that is not determined to be 'fit for children' must carry that warning. Will it be shown before the news or any other program that is not specifically designed for ankle biters?

Serious problem. In my opinion schools are shirking their duty when they turn a blind eye. A parent who tells a child to 'ignore' taunts and bullying is basically telling the child that they and their welfare are of no importance. Children should be taught to defend themselves and to seek adult support when bullied; parents should make sure they get it.

Apparently the courts in Britain have made it a heavy burden to show 'intent' to actually kill, as opposed to intent to simply assault a lot. This creates odd effects, since assault is treated lightly. I hear you can get more than three years for hitting and killing someone with your car, completely by accident. Given that the killer will be out in three years, ...
