If business forecasting resembles a bunch of gamblers huddled around a casino craps table, it is because they are ignoring the most important determinant of economic good and ill. Their predictions have the same reliability as the shooterâs likelihood of rolling a seven. From âsnake eyesâ to âbox carsâ and beyond, the only important number is the market price of crude oil. When oil prices peaked in June, 2008,...

"Instead, they are people, either in politics or close observers, who once held an unromantically high opinion of Obama. They were important to his rise, and are likely more important to the success or failure of his presidency than Obama or his distressingly insular and small-minded West Wing team appreciate." Your right, it wasn't romantically motivated it was motivated by greed and thoughts of a great American Society that...

Beesman : Nov. 23, 2009 - 6:31 AM EST  Take up Kennedy's mantle? Not another shameless invocation of the dead senator, just stop with the smarmy pointless "do it for the Gipper" baloney. Ted Kennedy soothed his reprobate soul by seeking to distract the world from his own moral bankruptcy. Remember the "not in my backyard" backdoor dealing on the windmills that spoiled his view at Martha's...

Clinically, insane does not mean without a rational-sounding reason. Even schizophrenics will adopt a âstoryâ that could make sense but is insane in time and space or motive and outcome. So what if Hasan yelled "Allah Akbar" or communicated with a radical mullah? Would you have kept all Jews under surveillance because of the Unibomber? Does Hasanâs MO mean we must suspect all the Muslims who pass us on the street sane...

Yes. We should get drunk and drive our car off of a bridge and commit vehicular homicide but get away with it because we left the scene of the crime and because our family is wealthy and politically powerful. We should also become alcoholics and support every immoral cause like gay marriage, abortion, and stealing from the middle class.Â

Three things: #1 - Craig isn't lily pure himself as far as loyalty goes: Yet in 2008, he supported Obama for the nomination â not so much a turning against Hillary Clinton as being impressed early, as were some other prominent Washingtonians, by the then-state senator but would-be U.S. Senate candidate at a fundraiser held by Vernon Jordan, seeing Obama as the first potentially inspiring Democratic figure since Robert Kennedy. Some...

President Barack Obama is returning from his trek to Asia Thursday to a capital that is a considerably more dangerous place for him than when he departed.
While he was abroad, there was a palpable sense at home of something gone wrong. A critical mass of influential people who once held big hopes for his presidency began to wonder whether they had misjudged the man. Most significant, these...

THE OBAMA WHITE HOUSE WILL STOP ANY MEANINGFUL INVESTIGATION OF THE FORT HOOD 'TERRORIST' ATTACK. --- ACKNOWLEDGING THAT HASAN WAS INDEED A TERRORIST AND THAT ISLAMIC TERRORISM WAS BEHIND THE ATTACKÂ WOULD GO AGAINST OBAMA'S SILLY VIEW OF THE WORLD.

We wouldn't be having this conversation had Clinton done the right thing when Bin Laden was in custody and other countries were willing to hand him over to us. Clinton said the US didn't have the authority to accept Bin Laden at the time, but the Justice Dept. disagreed and stated we had good reason to take him into custody because of the first World Trade Center bombing. We also have that ...

"President Barack Obama has not been as vocal in trying to prod Democrats to support him as he might have been. Are you concerned he will swoop in toward the end of the process, rally the troops and get it passed? "
Only if it is a bad golf day. Then he might take a few minutes to "swoop in."Â He might be too busy deciding about Afghanistan.....no, that doesn't seem to be taking him away ...
