All the towns have residency requirement, it is a rule made by civil service, unless it is a non-civil service town, which in turn wouldn't be a town that would use the civil service test

Some only have residency preferance and then they hire non residents. But, MBTA has no residancy preferance.

Pretty much if you were applying to be a Trooper here you will have to do the whole academy over again...as far as cities and towns go they may and I mean MAY...take your academy....that would be up to the MPTC aka the Municipal Police Training Committee..I do know of one officer from Florida that works for a smaller town here and they took his academy although I had heard they weren't crazy about doing it. Mass is one of those wonderful...

Mass State Police Anyone know what their current status is? I've seen a few articles that they are hurting for law enforcement throughout the whole state. Anyone know how true this is?

Like emerlad said unless your a vet/disabled vet, your not going to get on, plus all the officers from other towns who are getting laid off may try and shoot for the T police also. Better stay in NY and find a job thats what I'm going to do, however I will try to answer your question based on the interactions i've had with them. What do you mean? I've been a member there for a couple years and while it's a rowdy bunch of guys over there, as long as you have a thick skin, they're pretty accepting.
