I was only kidding, it's not easy to break into law enforcement in this state. I do believe it's hard to break into the field in any state though. Massachusetts is especial tough because of the way the civil service test is set up. If you want to be on a civil service department, you don't have a whole lot of options. Plus, with the way the economy tanked, and the layoffs, most will have to wait a long time to get on somewhere now.

Mass State Police
Anyone know what their current status is? I've seen a few articles that they are hurting for law enforcement throughout the whole state. Anyone know how true this is?

Hi Richter. I have news, and none of it is good.
Most cities and towns in MA fall under a statewide Civil Service agency. To get hired in most cities/towns in MA you have to take a statewide Civil Service exam and indicate which cities or towns you might like to work for. When the agency is ready to hire they call Civil Service who sends a list of eligible candidates based on that entry exam. ...

What do you mean? I've been a member there for a couple years and while
it's a rowdy bunch of guys over there, as long as you have a thick skin,
