That was the same exact problem I had on my old Slim model with the same model number as yours until I tried to bend down the ribbon a little more until it can't touch the disc.

I agree...the HD upgrades for the Xbox 360 is a rip off too... Both Ps3 and Xbox 360 are still way overpriced. Even though you can get an arcade for 199...when you buy an extra controller and evern a 60gig HD...you are then at 350 bucks!! PS3...299 not backwards compatible......rip off!!

I once had a couple dozen titles, but now I'm down to about half that. (I used to play more, but those were borrowed games from friends, or the occasional rental.) Currently, off the top of my head, I've got: Final Fantasy XII Haunting Ground Disney's The Haunted Mansion (my wife's selection) Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 Dragon Quest VIII ...And while I have a bit more, that's all I can recall. Today we're back to the ps2 has missing screws was opened and missing warranty sticker. Monday I get to phone 1 877 779 9929 and see what they have to say. I'm documenting this so others that may have a problem will have some phone numbers to contact and will know what a person is up against. Dealing with ps2 is like dealing with the government.

You can try the tutorials, but dropping any elecronic device has a huge tendency to permanently damage it. Good luck and be thankful PS2 are only 99 dollars.

I work in a videogame retail store and according to information I received Sony has stopped producing PS2 systems from the factory sometime during the end of the summer. They maybe be one final production run for PS2 systems in 2010.

I think you need the linux kit to do that stuff, I'm not 100% sure though, maybe someone else knows.

You will need a converter to connect the PS2 to a computer monitor assuming you are referring to standard monitor connections. Frankly I don't think such a device exists.

Do you have component cables hooked up to the TV or the regular RCA's? If you have the Component cables, did you go into the settings on the PS2 and change the signal to Component? I have a 42 inch 1080p Sony Bravia....and Ps2 with component looks hella good!! When the games are 480p...it looks outstanding! Make sure you have component cables and correct the settings! ...

Just keep it on standby i have 3 original ps2 and i always leave them on standby, the only time i use the switch on the back is when im diconnecting the powercord
