You'll probably have to go to a junk yard for the gas tank. Start here: www.car-part.com

I've got a tank but I'll have to see what condition it is in. What's wrong with yours, rust? For my 91 Trooper I went to www.car-parts.com. You can search by state or even the entire US. I wanted a rust free one so I found one in Arizona though there are certainly other salt / rust free states. Even with shipping to Iowa it was around $100.00 and it came with the sending unit so I was well pleased. Many will tell you the best...

the tensioners do die often. I would replace the tensioner with a new one if you can get it and do the water pump while you are in there. You will kick yourself soon if you don't _________________ 1996 Honda Passport EX

The tension adjustment is a long fine thread bolt with 10mm head on it at the bottom of the alternator. Use a 12mm wrench to loosen the bolt at the bottom of the alternator, then tighten the 10mm head to tighten the belt, then retighten the 12mm.

Can the contacts be replaced without removing the starter? I really don't want to take that project on again. I guess if it saves me money, I may as well though. It shouldn't be as bad this time around. It just now started getting cold and snowy here and of course my starter goes bad, it was just 58 degrees here last week, why couldn't it have gone bad then.

You can't completely delete the emissions controls anymore. They are integral to how the PCM runs everything. I'm surprised that you 94 even had a smog pump. Without the emissions controls, you won't pass an emissions tailpipe test even if they don't check under the hood.

If it's the 2.2 4 cylinder in your sig then you are going to need more than a new timing belt. The 2.2L is an interference engine, meaning that the valves will hit the tops of the pistons if a timing belt breaks. You are going to have to take the head to a shop and have it rebuilt due to the bent valves. _________________ 93 Amigo XS 4x4

Removal of the timing belt cover and etc was easy but I can't find any info on how to remove this "intermediate", or "idler shaft". It is the piece that the timing belt gear bolts to. It goes inside the head and drives the twin camshafts. The front bearing...

Sounds to me like it could still be the starter. Probably one bad spot where it wont make contact on the times it wont start.
Not unusual for "new" starters to be bad off the shelf. When I replaced the starter in my nieces toyota the new one wouldnt crank at all. Parts store wasnt going to swap it because it worked fine on their test bench. I talked the guy into following outside and ...

I've had the same thing with dirty injectors. You might try a can of Seafoam in the gas. _________________ 93 Amigo XS 4x4

I have recently installed a 'used' 3.2L (68K) in my '94 Rodeo and have been working out the kinks. Yesterday I noticed a ticking or clicking sound which outside the vehicle makes me think the cooling fan blade is striking something by its rythm and pitch. However, when I open the hood and check, there seems to be nothing visually striking the fan or any other moving object. Also, the sound seems...

Looks like that would do the trick! Note that since this is a 'later' model TBI it probably has a different T.P.S. plug than yours. No big problem there, you can go to a wrecking yard and find an S-10 or other TBI'd GM vehicle with the same type of plug on its wiring harness. Cut that plug out and splice into your harness. Or, I believe you can also switch over your old T.P.S. to the 4.3 TBI....

So I just bought this 1994 Amigo 4x4 and so far I love it.
I am wondering a few things, first it has 197k on it with care can it keep going or is time running out? Next I noticed that they sell a chip to increase hp and gas mileage. Now the ad claims that this is better for the motor but is it? If anyone can help me out on this that would be great. Thanks

Those shims set the axle bearing pre-load. Too loose and it allows the axle to move in and out excessively, too tight and the bearing eventually fails. There is a process for getting the right thickness: take out all shims both sides, install the axle on one side with 2mm thickness shims, tighten down to spec's, leave it in place. Install the opposite axle temporarily with no shims, shoved all ...

For me I remove the tires first as otherwise my jack and jack stands are not tall enough to let the axle drop far enough to get the springs out.
