Quote: Council house layabouts need not apply. Shame because I live in what was a council house until I bought it off them, it's us supposed barrel bottom scrapings that spend more on NT than posh people do. ps I wish people would stop tarring all council house tennants with the same brush, it's damned insulting

Darkroom Skills

Given that you previously used a darkroom, could you not just have a go. Unless things have significantly changed the chemicals came with instructions. While I have not used a darkroom for over 10 years either, it must be like riding a bicycle; you never completely forget. Attending a full course may not be ideal if you just need to refesh your memory. You might consider joining a Camera Club where there is likely to still be a handful of...

Manual White Balance Settings
Published (2009-12-13 17:54:00)
On my nikon i can safe different white balance settings and then use them next time around for when needed. With 3 kids you just don't get much time for yourself. So post processing is for me is too much time consuming. But thanks for the replies. I'm gonna practise it alot. A handy thing to know for the people with liveview on there Nikons. When you change your white balance and your in liveview, you can see the difference. So once...

Thanks Dave. I'm new to this whole thing and read in some article that you should convert to CMYK prior to sending to print, hence my error. I think I'm at that point where I have just information to start really confusing myself ! Cheers BigLad.

Thanks Chris, I agree about them doing a good job and, after all, they are volunteers. When you say Stall Mill, that's not Quarry Bank is it? That is certainly worth a visit.

When I woke up today, I looked up and through some articals about light and so on. Color light is very complicated as I thought but I would guess easy to understand. Here is a link about saturation which I feel is an important part of composition and subjects in any color spectrum. Color Saturation: Photography

If you shoot RAW, the WB setting doesn't really matter as you can change the Temp and Tint in your converter.
Sometimes AWB wll be fooled if there is, say a predominant colour in the frame. Also Canons are notoriously bad at getting WB right under artificial light. Setting it to Tungsten or Fluorescent helps, but ideally use Custom WB.
If you set to an outdoor WB and then shoot under ...

Hi clickhere, composition is different for all three. When concidering dark to light that's smooth to look at and most of all easy on the eye to see what it is your composing. Light reflects differently in the color spectrum and our eyes only see up to 600 or so many nonometers in the color spectrum to near infrared. In near infrared above 700 nanometers the colors reflect with less color ...

The National trust rules are no photographs allowed anywhere, flash or not.
I'm a fully paid up member and it irks me sometimes.
Not far from me is Styal Mill which I love the atmosphere and the site is perfect for those black and whites I love so much.
One of my friends is a Trustee ( sounds like a prison goody twoshoes ) there and I asked her what chance I'd have. Her reply was...

Only if you shoot them with custom white balance set on the camera. In all other white balance modes they will be set with the setting of that mode. If you are asking will the camera remember your manually set white balance, it will, until you change it yourself.

City & Guilds is probably the best, but will be expensive and long. There might be other courses that will suit you better.
Much will depend on the tutor though. Some time ...
